🌍 Shaping the future of geospatial science: the ISPRS Roadmap for 2026–2030

At the XXV ISPRS Congress in Toronto, the General Assembly adopted a new set of scientific and technological resolutions that will guide the priorities of ISPRS over the next four years.

The roadmap focuses on six key areas:

🔹 GeoAI as a strategic priority
🔹 Open Geospatial Foundation Models & GeoAI Commons
🔹 Next-generation sensing and Earth Observation
🔹 Multi-modal & Multi-temporal Geospatial Intelligence
🔹 Geospatial Science for Global Challenges
🔹 Educating the Next Generation

Together, these priorities reflect how rapidly geospatial sciences are evolving and reinforce ISPRS's commitment to scientific excellence, international cooperation and innovation.

🌍 Meet the new leadership of the ISPRS Technical Commissions for 2026–2030!

Following the ISPRS General Assembly in Toronto, the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the five ISPRS Technical Commissions will lead their Commissions during the 2026–2030 inter-Congress period.

We are pleased to introduce the new Commission leadership:
🔹 TC I – Sensor Systems
President: Cheng Wang | Vice President: Andrea Masiero
🔹 TC II – Photogrammetry
President: Uwe Sörgel | Vice President: Jan Boehm
🔹 TC III – Remote Sensing
President: Junichi Susaki | Vice President: Michael Schmitt

🔹 TC V – Education and Outreach

Over the next four years, they will guide the scientific and technical activities of their Commissions, foster international collaboration, and support the development of the ISPRS community.

Big news for the ISPRS community - after Sydney 2029, the ISPRS Congress is heading to Incheon, Republic of Korea!

During the General Assembly in Toronto, the Republic of Korea was selected to host the XXVII ISPRS Congress Incheon 2030, with Ji Sang Park as Congress Director.

Following the new annual ISPRS Congress cycle starting in 2029, Incheon will welcome the global ISPRS community from 29 June to 6 July 2030.

Congratulations to Ji Sang Park and the entire organising team! We wish them every success as preparations for Incheon 2030 begin.

We look forward to bringing the ISPRS community together in the Republic of Korea in 2030!

Big news for the ISPRS community — the next ISPRS Congress is heading to Sydney, Australia!

During the General Assembly in Toronto, Australia was selected to host the XXVI ISPRS Congress in 2029.

The General Assembly also made an important decision regarding the future of ISPRS events. Starting in 2029, the ISPRS Congress will be held annually, while Geospatial Week and the midterm symposia will be discontinued.

Congratulations to Petra Helmholz as Congress Director, Sisi Zlatanova as Deputy Congress Director, and Rachel Greenwood as Co-Chair. We wish the entire team every success as preparations for Sydney 2029 begin!

This marks a new chapter for ISPRS and its global community, and we look forward to bringing the ISPRS community together in Australia in 2029.

🌍 Meet the new ISPRS Council for 2026–2030!

During the ISPRS General Assembly in Toronto, the new ISPRS Council was elected for the 2026–2030 inter-Congress period.

Over the next four years, the Council will guide the Society, support its scientific and technical activities, strengthen international cooperation, and represent the global ISPRS community.

🌍 ISPRS 2026 has come to an end!

From 4-11 July, more than 2,200 delegates from around the world joined us in Toronto for eight days filled with scientific sessions, presentations, workshops, tutorials, discussions and meetings across the ISPRS community.

A special thank you goes to Congress Director Derek Lichti for his leadership and the enormous amount of work behind the XXV ISPRS Congress. We also sincerely thank our host, CRSS-SCT – Canadian Remote Sensing Society / Société canadienne de télédétection, and everyone involved in organising the Congress.

Our thanks go to the Organising and Scientific Committees, session chairs, workshop and tutorial organisers and moderators, volunteers and Congress staff. Many months and years of work went into making this week happen - thank you!

We were honoured to welcome our keynote speakers: Jun Chen, Marguerite Madden, Marc Pollefeys, Guennadi Kroupnik, Xiaoxiang Zhu, Minda Suchan, Alex Miller, Michael Daly, Erica Nocerino and Eleni Paliouras. Day 7 at - our penultimate day in Toronto!

The day started with another packed programme of scientific sessions, covering topics from agricultural monitoring, disaster management, wetlands and wildfire science to point clouds, 3D reconstruction, remote sensing, and spatial intelligence.

We also gathered for Plenary Session 5, while the afternoon brought more technical discussions and the final Poster Session of ISPRS 2026 - the last opportunity to explore research presented in poster format and meet the authors.

And today, we are already on the final day of the Congress! Presentations are still underway, and at 12:00 we invite you to join us for the Closing Ceremony as we officially conclude an incredible week in Toronto.

Day 6 at !

Another inspiring day of scientific sessions, Plenary Session 4, technical meetings, and Poster Session 4, where researchers shared their latest work and exchanged ideas.

Today also marked the final day of our exhibition booth. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, took part in our activities and connected with us throughout the week. It was a pleasure meeting so many members of the global geospatial community!

We wrapped up the day at the ISPRS STEP–TIF Evening Reception, celebrating students, early professionals, and the new connections made during an unforgettable week.

Day 5 at is complete!

Another day full of inspiring discussions and knowledge sharing! We enjoyed Plenary Session 3, a wide range of scientific and industry sessions, engaging forums, and Poster Session 3, where researchers presented their latest work.

Our ISPRS & ISPRS STEP Booths ( #215 & #217) continued to welcome visitors from around the world. It was fantastic to meet so many of you—and yes, our ISPRS jigsaw puzzles are still a huge hit! 🧩

The day ended with the Congress Dinner, bringing the community together for an unforgettable evening of networking and celebration.
