يَنعي قسم الشرق في مَعْهد الآثار الألماني السيد راينَر ميشائيل بومَر (Rainer Michael Boehmer)

يؤسفنا جداً إعلان وفاة السيد راينر مايكل بومر في العاشر من شهر أيلول 2022 عن عمر يناهز 91 عامًا، والذي كان يشغل منصب المدير الأول لقسم بغداد حيث عمل على هيكلته على مدى أكثر من عقدين، كمان كان له الدور الأساسي في دفعه باتجاه أن يصبح اليوم قسم الشرق.
درس السيد ر. م. بومر علم آثار الشرق الأدنى في جامعة برلين الحرة بين عامي 1952 و 1961 مع أنطون مورتغات (Anton Moortgat)، ولا تزال أطروحته الدكتوراه الموسومة "تطور فن تصوير الأختام (glyptic) في الحقبة الأكادية" المنشورة عام 1964 بمنزلة المرجع ألأساسي الذي يُعتمد عليهً حتى يومنا هذا في هذا المجال.
عمل السيد ر. م. بومَر في معهد الآثار الألماني لأكثر من 30 عاماً، أولاً من عام 1965 إلى عام 1969 كمساعد علمي للرئيس آنذاك السيد كورت بيتل (Kurt Bittel)، ومن عام 1969 إلى عام 1979 كمدير علمي لقسم بغداد، ومن 1979 إلى 1993 كمدير علمي ورئيس قسم بغداد، ومن 1993 إلى 1996 كمدير أول للقسم.
هذا وقد أشرف في العراق على أعمال التنقيب في الوركاء وأنجز مشاريعه الخاصة شمالي العراق وكذلك الحفريات الإنقاذية في منطقة حمرين في تل المليحية وتل الزبيدي.
لقد أولى اهتماماً خاصاً لإنهاء دراسة حفريات الوركاء ونشرها والتي بلغت 23 مجلدا من "الحفريات في الوركاء. وكذلك التقارير النهائية التي أعدها تحت إشرافه، وفي الوقت نفسه كان محرراً لسلسلة مطبوعات (Baghdader Mitteilungen) و(Baghdader Forschungen) التي كانت تصدر عن قسم بغداد حتى عام 1996. إضافة إلى ذلك قام بنشر العديد من الدراسات تتعلق بموضوعه الرئيس حول فن تصوير الأختام واللقى الصغيرة المكتشفة في بلاد الرافدين.
في عام 1985 تم تعيينه أستاذاً فخرياً في جامعة روبريخت كارلس (Ruprecht Karls University) في هايدلبرغ.
في عام 1995 ، حصل على وسام الاستحقاق الفيدرالي ووسام الاستحقاق من جمهورية ألمانيا الاتحادية لخدماته المميزة في علم الآثار في العراق.
نحن نأسف كثيراً لفقدان زميلنا الموقر والعالم البارز في آثار الشرق الأدنى.
سيبقى البروفيسور الدكتور راينر مايكل بومر (Rainer Michael Boehmer) حاضراً في ذاكرتنا.

The Orient Department mourns the death of Rainer Michael Boehmer

On 10 September 2022, the former First Director of the Baghdad Department, Rainer Michael Boehmer, passed away at the age of 91. He shaped the department for more than two decades and was instrumental for its orientation to become today's Orient Department.
Between 1952 and 1961, R. M. Boehmer studied Near Eastern archaeology at the Free University of Berlin with Anton Moortgat. His dissertation on the "Development of Glyptics in the Akkad Period", published in 1964, is still a much-used reference work on the subject today.
R. M. Boehmer served for the German Archaeological Institute for more than 30 years, first from 1965 to 1969 as scientific assistant to the then President Kurt Bittel, from 1969 to 1979 as Scientific Director of the Baghdad Department, from 1979 to 1993 as Scientific Director and Head of the Baghdad Department, and from 1993 to 1996 as First Director of the Department.
In Iraq, he supervised the excavations at Uruk-Warka and carried out his own projects in northern Iraq as well as in the emergency excavations in the Hamrin area at Tell Imlihiyeh and Tell Zubeidi.
The final study and publication of the excavations in Uruk was his special concern; 23 volumes of „Ausgrabungen in Uruk-Warka. Endberichte“ were produced under his supervision. At the same time, he was editor of the publication series "Baghdader Mitteilungen" and "Baghdader Forschungen" of the Baghdad Department until 1996. In addition he published several monographs on his main topics, the glyptics and small finds of Mesopotamia.
In 1985 he was appointed honorary professor at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg.
In 1995, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for his special services to the archaeology of Iraq.
We mourn the loss of an esteemed colleague and outstanding representative of Near Eastern archaeology.
