Good morning Baumholder Community!

Today, we are highlighting another valued member of our Primary Care team.

We are proud to introduce our next staff spotlight: CPT Rebecca Rustand

CPT Rustand serves as the optometrist in the Optometry Department. In this role, she plays a vital part in maintaining vision readiness and delivering high-quality healthcare to Soldiers, their families, and the broader community.

CPT Rustand shared that her work focuses on ensuring patients receive comprehensive eye care while also supporting overall health and readiness. Through routine examinations and early detection, she helps contribute to both individual well-being and the clinic’s mission.

One of the things she values most about working at the Baumholder Army Health Clinic is the close-knit community. She appreciates how team members consistently support one another, creating a collaborative environment where everyone works together toward a shared goal.

CPT Rustand is especially proud of her team’s unwavering support and dedication. Their reliability, teamwork, and commitment to excellence make a meaningful difference in both the clinic and the communities they serve.

She also highlighted that patients may not always realize how critical optometry can be in identifying serious health conditions. Many systemic diseases—such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disorders, and certain cancers—can first present through signs in the eyes, making routine eye exams an important part of overall health.

Outside of work, CPT Rustand enjoys exploring Germany with her husband. While she doesn’t have a single favorite destination yet, she loves walking through towns, visiting castles, experiencing local markets and festivals, hiking in the woods, enjoying countryside picnics, connecting with the community, and trying new cuisines.

Thank you for your dedication to our patients and our community!

Good morning Baumholder Community!

Today, we are highlighting another valued member of our Primary Care team.

We are proud to introduce our next staff spotlight: SFC Stewart Simmons

SFC Simmons serves in Primary Care and as the Deputy NCOIC of Clinic Care Services. In this role, he plays a vital part in streamlining administrative and research-oriented tasks, allowing clinical staff to dedicate more time and energy to direct patient care while supporting the clinic’s overall mission.

SFC Simmons shared that his work is focused on improving efficiency behind the scenes so providers can deliver the highest level of care to patients. His efforts help ensure the clinic operates smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on patient-centered care.

One of the things he values most about working at the clinic is the opportunity to watch junior soldier medics develop their skills and build confidence in their roles.
SFC Simmons is especially proud of his team’s compassion and dedication. They consistently go the extra mile to support patients, showing kindness and care well beyond their standard responsibilities.

He also highlighted that patients may not always realize the complexity of their role, which involves balancing individual patient care with the medical readiness of the entire Baumholder community.

Outside of work, his favorite destination while stationed in Germany is The Winston, where he enjoys spending time on the golf course.

Thank you for your dedication to our patients and our community!

Good morning Baumholder Community!

Today, we are highlighting another valued member of our Primary Care team.

We are proud to introduce our next staff spotlight: Ms. Melissa Johnson

Melissa serves as a Registered Nurse in Primary Care. In this role, she plays a vital part in ensuring patients are medically ready while supporting both providers and the overall clinic mission. As a nurse, she helps translate complex medical information into clear, understandable guidance and act as a central hub for communication across patient care teams.

Melissa shared that her work is rooted in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Each day, she focuses on supporting patients with compassion while helping ensure the clinic operates smoothly and efficiently.

One of the things she values most about working at the clinic is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while being part of a team that prioritizes both compassion and high-quality care.

Melissa is especially proud of the way her team continues to grow professionally, strengthen their skills, and foster a positive environment for both colleagues and patients.

She has also highlighted that patients may not always see the level of critical thinking and coordination that happens behind the scenes. Nurses are constantly assessing situations and working to improve the overall patient experience in ways that often go unnoticed.

Outside of work, her favorite destination while stationed in Germany is simply home. Melissa shared that there’s no place like it and she takes pride in creating a welcoming and comforting environment.

Thank you for your dedication to our patients and our community!

Good morning Baumholder Community!

Today, we are highlighting another member of our Primary Care team.

We are proud to introduce our second staff spotlight: Ms. Jennifer Clemmons

Jennifer serves as a Registered Nurse in Primary Care and is currently the interim NCOIC. She plays a critical role in supporting both patients and providers while helping ensure the clinic runs effectively day-to-day.

She shared that her focus each day is addressing patient needs with compassion and supporting the military community she is a part of. One of the things she values most about working here is being surrounded by a team that shares the same commitment to patient care.

Jennifer highlighted that Primary Care consistently rises to meet challenges and does what is necessary to provide the best care possible across the KMC. She also noted that many patients may not realize how central the RN role is in coordinating communication between patients, providers, specialty clinics, and other departments.

Outside of work, one of her favorite places she has visited while in Germany is Barcelona, where she enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and weather.

Thank you, Ms. Clemmons, for your dedication to our patients and our community.
