👏Join us in congratulating Pvt. 2nd Class Findley on being selected as the 16th Sustainment Brigade’s Knight of the Week. A new Soldier to both the Knights Brigade and the U.S. Army, Findley demonstrates what can be achieved when you refuse to place limits on your own potential.

Findley serves as an intelligence analyst in the 16th Sustainment Brigade S‑2 shop, where he regularly conducts intelligence analysis and confidently briefs senior Army leaders, including the brigade commander and command sergeant major.

He recently competed in and won the 16th Special Troops Battalion’s Soldier of the Month competition. Shortly after, he completed driver’s training and participated in the 16th STB Vanguard Crucible, where he successfully earned the battalion’s coveted belt buckle.

These achievements are especially noteworthy considering Findley joined the brigade less than a year ago—having raised his right hand and shipped to basic training only ten months prior.

Members of the Vanguard Battalion proved they cannot be broken during the second Vanguard Crucible in Baumholder, Germany, on May 20 to May 21, 2026.

Over a grueling 24-hour period, approximately 30 elite soldiers from the 16th Sustainment Brigade conquered a punishing 27-mile tactical circuit that included a 12-mile ruck march, a gas chamber trial, an obstacle course, and overnight land navigation. This year’s event also introduced the inaugural Spouses' Crucible, allowing military families to tackle a modified fitness circuit and experience the intense endurance required of their soldiers.

During the closing ceremony, battalion leadership celebrated the immense grit of all competitors, presenting finishers with four-day passes while the overall victors of Team 1 took home coveted battalion belt buckles. Only 75 soldiers in the entire unit have ever completed the challenge, which commanders noted matches the rigor of elite military schools.

Leadership praised the finishers as the embodiment of the warrior spirit, challenging them to inspire the next generation of competitors to step up to the starting line next year.

The 16th Special Troops Battalion took another step in boosting its tech and adaptability May 19, 2026, using virtual tools to keep operations on track as five Soldiers earned promotable status during the monthly promotion board.

Showcasing the battalion’s ability to extend its reach across theaters, Spc. Terrell McSears appeared before the brigade’s first‑ever virtual promotion board, earning his promotable status while deployed to Turkey.

The battalion also wrapped up its Soldier and NCO of the Month boards for May. After a competitive process that tested military knowledge, physical readiness, and leadership potential, Pvt. Parker Ross Findley was selected as the Soldier of the Month.

The 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion conducted its promotion board at the Tower View Conference Center (TVCC), 19 May, 2026.

This gives eligible Soldiers the opportunity to demonstrate their professionalism, military knowledge, and readiness for increased responsibility. Board members evaluated candidates on appearance, bearing, communication, and understanding of key Army programs and policies.

Events like this reinforce the battalion’s commitment to developing confident, capable leaders and ensuring that those selected for advancement embody the standards and discipline expected within the NCO Corps.

The 16th Sustainment Brigade Honor Guard rendered military funeral honors for Retired Military Working Dog Perle X429, a loyal partner whose service and devotion left a lasting impact on every Soldier, handler and caregiver who knew her.

Those who gathered to pay their respects included military police teams who worked alongside Perle during her active-duty years, veterinary professionals from the Veterinary Medical Center Europe, and members of the Stuttgart veterinary team who cared for her throughout her medical challenges. Their presence reflected the deep bond Perle formed with those entrusted with her well-being.

Maj. Kerri Hider, Veterinary Operations Officer in Charge, 64th Medical Detachment (VS), opened her home and heart to the retired working dog—giving her a couch, a family and the chance to simply live as a dog after years of disciplined service. As the memorial service began, Cpl. Eva-Marie Howells, Veterinary Medical Center Europe, delivered a moving tribute while standing beside the traditional memorial display of the empty crate and tipped water bowl.

Perle's service includes multiple deployments and more than 40 protective missions. Her watch has ended, but her impact endures. (U.S. Army photos by 1st Lt. Nahjier Williams)

A specialized drone team within the 16th Sustainment Brigade successfully executed "Operation Gatekeep" in Baumholder, Germany, on April 30, 2026, signaling a shift in how support units prepare for tech-driven warfare.

The exercise integrated First-Person View (FPV) attack drones and reconnaissance aircraft to locate and recover a simulated downed VIP in a wooded training area. This mission aimed to prove that logistical units can leverage the same asymmetric drone tactics currently reshaping modern battlefields.

The brigade command sergeant major, Command Sgt. Maj. Jimmy Ingram, emphasized that the unit is operating at the level of high-budget innovation cells by mastering the "new fundamentals" of drone flight and survival. With plans to establish a "Drone Academy" for the entire brigade, the exercise demonstrated that staying ahead of the curve is essential for survival.

As the battlefield evolves, these soldiers are ensuring logistical units remain proficient in the tools necessary to win in a drone-saturated environment.
