Hooray, it’s Sweden's National Day! 🇸🇪 🥳 This is a day to celebrate some of the things we are proud of. 🤩

We have wide-ranging freedom to choose how we live, and a constitutional right to be heard. We also have space to be courageous, allowing us to take on the unknown and be creative. It’s no coincidence that our startup scene is buzzing.

Our vast forests, open landscapes and endless summer nights help give us balance. So does our flexible work culture, giving us time for friends and family. We offer equal opportunities for parents, with a parental leave scheme designed to be shared.

And yes, we are proud that Sweden is home to countless ideas and brands that have travelled far beyond our borders – from Celsius to IKEA, from Minecraft to Spotify.

6️⃣ The National Day of Sweden is celebrated on 6 June because of two important historical events: on 6 June 1523 Gustav Vasa was elected king, which laid the foundation for Sweden as an independent state; and on 6 June 1809 Sweden adopted a new constitution, reducing the king’s authority while giving the parliament more power.

Naše jednota není jen diplomatické heslo. 🇩🇰🇪🇪🇫🇮🇮🇸🇱🇹🇱🇻🇳🇴🇸🇪+🇺🇦🇨🇿

Dokázali jsme to v nádherném Fantově sále pražského hlavního nádraží, kde jsme společně oslavili národní dny severských a pobaltských zemí za účasti premiéra Andreje Babiše, ministrů a samozřejmě velvyslanců a vedoucích misí.

Zazněla silná poselství o tom, co náš region i Evropu dnes spojuje i posouvá vpřed: o podpoře Ukrajiny, české muniční iniciativě, bezpečnosti, inovacích, umělé inteligenci, svobodných médiích, podnikání i konkurenceschopnosti Evropy. Severské a pobaltské státy patří mezi největší podporovatele Ukrajiny na světě a budoucnost silné Evropy stojí na spolupráci, důvěře a sdílených hodnotách.

Děkujeme všem hostům za inspirativní večer a příležitost být součástí této výjimečné oslavy!

Our unity is more than just a diplomatic slogan.🇩🇰🇪🇪🇫🇮🇮🇸🇱🇹🇱🇻🇳🇴🇸🇪+🇺🇦🇨🇿

We demonstrated that in the magnificent Fanta Hall at Prague’s Main Railway Station, where we came together to celebrate the national days of the Nordic and Baltic countries, joined by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, ministers, and, of course, ambassadors and heads of mission.

Powerful messages were shared about the issues that unite our region and drive Europe forward today: support for Ukraine, the Czech ammunition initiative, security, innovation, artificial intelligence, free media, entrepreneurship, and Europe’s competitiveness. The Nordic and Baltic countries are among Ukraine’s strongest supporters worldwide, and the future of a strong Europe rests on cooperation, trust, and shared values.

Thank you to all our guests for an inspiring evening and for the opportunity to be part of this exceptional celebration.

Čím vyšší je podíl pěší, cyklistické a veřejné dopravy, tím udržitelnější je dopravní systém.

Valné shromáždění OSN přijalo v roce 2022 rezoluci „Začlenění cyklistické dopravy do systémů veřejné dopravy pro udržitelný rozvoj“, která vyzývá státy k podpoře cyklistiky jako součásti udržitelné mobility, ochrany klimatu a snižování emisí skleníkových plynů.

V roce 2018 rozhodlo Valné shromáždění OSN, že 3. červen bude každoročně připomínán jako Světový den jízdního kola. Letos jsme ho v 🇨🇿 oslavili tradiční Světovou cyklojízdou v Praze spolu s dalšími asi 600 cyklistů a cyklistek všeho věku. Sice jsme zmokli, ale nejsme z cukru.

Did you know that one in three Swedes can cycle to work in just 15 minutes? 🚲🇸🇪 Happy !

In Sweden, cycling isn’t just a weekend activity. It’s part of everyday life. Swedes make an estimated 500 million bike trips per year, according to the Swedish Transport Analysis, with many of those being daily commutes to work or school.

Sweden offers approximately 22,750 kilometers of dedicated cycle paths, and many cities have taken extra steps to support cyclists, including secure bicycle parking, public air pumps, and even heated bicycle lanes in some areas to keep people riding all year round.

Cycling also brings benefits to society. Bicycles take up less space than cars, meaning cities designed with cycling in mind can become more livable, efficient and environmentally friendly. 💚

How does your country celebrate birth? Sweden does it the way we know best: with 'fika'! 💕

Still in the hospital bed, the new mum gets a little tray with a Swedish flag, coffee, sandwiches and maybe a biscuit.

The Swedish gesture is simple and low key – a gentle 'well done, mum' and 'welcome to the world, little baby'. 👼

The partner is often offered to cut the umbilical cord, which is a small act that symbolises equality and shared responsibility from the very beginning.
