Ο Επίτροπος Επικοινωνιών κ. Γιώργος Μιχαηλίδης συμμετείχε ως μέλος πάνελ στο Digital Conference “Shaping the Next Digital Frontier”, το οποίο πραγματοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο της Κυπριακής Προεδρίας του Συμβουλίου της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, στο Συνεδριακό Κέντρο Φιλοξενία στη Λευκωσία.
Κατά τη συζήτηση πάνελ με θέμα «At the Edge of Trust: The Cybersecurity Act and Europe’s Digital Future», ο κ. Μιχαηλίδης συμμετείχε σε διάλογο με κορυφαίους Ευρωπαίους εμπειρογνώμονες για το μέλλον της κυβερνοασφάλειας, της ψηφιακής ανθεκτικότητας και της εμπιστοσύνης στο ευρωπαϊκό ψηφιακό οικοσύστημα.
Στην παρέμβασή του, ο κ. Μιχαηλίδης τόνισε ότι:
🔹 Τα κοινά ευρωπαϊκά πρότυπα κυβερνοασφάλειας ενισχύουν τη συνέπεια, την προβλεψιμότητα και τις επενδύσεις, μειώνοντας παράλληλα τον κατακερματισμό μεταξύ των κρατών μελών.
🔹 Η εμπιστοσύνη δεν περιορίζεται στη συμμόρφωση, αλλά βασίζεται στην επιχειρησιακή ανθεκτικότητα, τη συνεχή παρακολούθηση, την προετοιμασία και τις δοκιμές σε πραγματικές συνθήκες.
🔹 Η ψηφιακή κυριαρχία απαιτεί εναρμόνιση με ευελιξία, ώστε τα κράτη μέλη να μπορούν να ανταποκρίνονται αποτελεσματικά στις σύγχρονες κυβερνοαπειλές.
🔹 Η ασφάλεια της εφοδιαστικής αλυσίδας απαιτεί ολιστική προσέγγιση, καθώς περιλαμβάνει τεχνικές, νομικές, προμηθευτικές και γεωπολιτικές παραμέτρους.
🔹 Η Ευρώπη οφείλει να περάσει από τη θεωρία στην πράξη, μέσω συντονισμένων stress tests ανθεκτικότητας σε κρίσιμους τομείς και αλυσίδες εφοδιασμού.
Ο κ. Μιχαηλίδης υπογράμμισε ότι η ενίσχυση της ψηφιακής εμπιστοσύνης αποτελεί βασική προϋπόθεση για την προστασία των κρίσιμων υποδομών, την ασφάλεια των πολιτών και τη στρατηγική αυτονομία της Ευρώπης.

The Commissioner of Communications Mr. George participated as a panelist at the Digital Conference “Shaping the Next Digital Frontier”, held in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union, at the Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia.
During the panel discussion titled “At the Edge of Trust: The Cybersecurity Act and Europe’s Digital Future,” Mr. Michaelides joined leading European experts to discuss the future of cybersecurity, digital resilience, and trust in Europe’s digital ecosystem.
In his intervention, Mr. Michaelides emphasized that:
🔹 Common EU cybersecurity standards strengthen consistency, predictability and investment, while reducing regulatory fragmentation across Member States.
🔹 Trust goes beyond compliance — it is built through operational resilience, continuous monitoring, preparedness, and real-world testing.
🔹 Digital sovereignty requires harmonisation without losing national flexibility, enabling Member States to respond effectively to evolving cyber threats.
🔹 Supply-chain security must be approached holistically, as it involves technical, legal, procurement and geopolitical dimensions.
🔹 Europe must move from policy to action by conducting coordinated resilience stress tests across critical sectors and supply chains.
Mr. Michaelides underlined that building digital trust is essential for safeguarding critical infrastructure, protecting citizens, and strengthening Europe’s strategic autonomy in an increasingly complex cyber environment.
