Κάποια μέρη δεν τα ξεχνάς.
Απλά επιστρέφεις…αλλιώς.
Η Δημοτική Βιβλιοθήκη Λατσιών-Γερίου ήταν για μένα, ως παιδί, μια μικρή όαση.
Ένας χώρος ελευθερίας.
Να διαλέγω ό,τι εγω θέλω να διαβάσω.
Αυτο είναι σπουδαίο για ένα παιδί.
Ακόμα περισσότερο στις μέρες μας, που πολυ συχνά, ακούω τα παιδιά να εκφράζουν αντιπάθεια ως απέχθεια για το σχολείο και τα βιβλία. Η βιβλιοθήκη ειναι ενα μέρος που το παιδί επιλέγει, η γνώση σε βρίσκει, δεν σου ταϊζεται.
Όλες οι βιβλιοθήκες μας δίνουν αυτή την ευκαιρία, αυτό τον θησαυρό, και δωρεάν.
Πριν λίγες μέρες, επέστρεψα για να δώσω κάτι πίσω. Μέσα από τη διαδραστική αφήγηση «Των Φτερών τα Μυστικά», μικροί και μεγάλοι ταξιδέψαμε από την ανάδυση της Κύπρου, στα πρώτα ζώα της θάλασσας, και μπήκαμε στα μυστικά των φτερών.

Some places stay with you.
You don’t forget them.
You just return… differently.
The Latsia–Geri Municipal Library was,
for me as a child, a small oasis.
A space of freedom.
To choose what I wanted to read.
And that is something truly important
for a child.
Even more so today,
when I so often hear children express dislike, even resistance,
towards school and books.
A library is different.
It is a place where a child or an adult chooses.
Where knowledge finds you,
not something that is forced on you.
All libraries offer us this opportunity,
this kind of treasure, and they do it free of charge.
A few days ago, I returned to give something back.
Through the interactive storytelling experience “The Secrets of Wings”, children and adults travelled from the rise of Cyprus out of the sea, to the first sea creatures, and into the hidden world of wings.
My heartfelt thanks to Louiza Kolokasidou and the Municipality of Latsia–Geri for their warm hospitality.
