A very moving visit to the laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons: a dedicated and professional bi-communal team that, with tenacity and perseverance, returns to families the remains of their loved ones who went missing between the early 1960s and 1974, helping to strengthen mutual trust between the two communities. About 55% of the missing persons, almost 2,000, have been recovered and identified — much remains to be done, but thanks to the CMP's tireless work, many more remains will find a dignified burial.

Oggi la Presidenza cipriota ha lanciato il Patto europeo per la Migrazione e l'Asilo, una svolta storica per i paesi UE che affronteranno insieme le sfide poste dai flussi migratori. Una priorità per l'Italia, in prima linea tra i paesi europei nell'affrontare e dare risposte in tema di accoglienza.

Today the Cypriot Presidency launched the European Pact on Migration and Asylum, a historic turning point for EU countries that will jointly face the challenges posed by migratory flows. A priority for Italy, which is on the front line among European countries in addressing and providing responses on the issue of reception.

Grazie al Ministro della Giustizia Costas Fitiris per aver organizzato questa interessante visita, che ci ha permesso di approfondire la conoscenza della dolorosa storia di Famagosta, città amata e orgogliosa sin dall'antichità, e anche di apprezzare la nuova Marina di Agia Napa e quella in costruzione a Paralimni. Un'isola in continuo divenire!

Thanks to Justice Minister Costas Fitiris for organising this fascinating visit, which allowed us to deepen our understanding of the painful history of Famagusta — a beloved and proud city since antiquity — and also to appreciate the new Marina of Ayia Napa and the one under construction in Paralimni. An island in continuous transformation!

I have assured Italy's full collaboration — a globally recognized player in the space sector — with Cyprus, which has emerged in recent years as a significant and growing presence in this field. My thanks to the Eratosthenes Centre and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry for organizing this important Forum on the use of space data and technologies to provide solutions to the great challenges of our time.

Il diritto per tutti i cittadini europei a non essere costretti a lasciare il proprio paese e le strategie nazionali ed europee per incentivare lo sviluppo dei territori con necessità specifiche, come le isole, sono stati al centro dell'odierno Consiglio Informale dell'UE sulle politiche di coesione. Ho partecipato con grande interesse alla riunione, in rappresentanza dell'Italia.

The right of all European citizens not to be forced to leave their country, and the national and European strategies to promote the development of territories with specific needs, such as islands, were at the centre of today's Informal EU Council on Cohesion Policy. I participated with great interest in the meeting, representing Italy.
