🇬🇭🇨🇺 A JOURNEY OF FRIENDSHIP: FROM PARLIAMENT TO DIPLOMACY
On Thursday, 3rd March 2022, while serving as Special Aide to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, I had the privilege of participating in a courtesy call by H.E. Annette Chao García, then Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Ghana, on the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin at Parliament House, Accra.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Ghana and Cuba, built over decades on the principles of mutual respect, solidarity and shared development.
During the engagement, the Rt. Hon. Speaker underscored the importance of women's empowerment as a cornerstone of national development, emphasizing that Ghana's progress depends significantly on investing in the education, leadership and capacity-building of women.
The Speaker also paid glowing tribute to the resilience and achievements of the Cuban people, acknowledging Cuba's remarkable contributions in the fields of healthcare, education, scientific research and technical training, despite the many challenges the country has faced over the years.
As part of the discussions, I highlighted Cuba's invaluable support to Ghana and the African continent, particularly in healthcare, education and human resource development. I noted that Cuba's enduring friendship and solidarity deserve to be reciprocated through stronger cooperation and mutual support between our nations.
The meeting also explored areas of mutual interest, including the Mosquito Project, an initiative aimed at combating malaria in Ghana through Ghana-Cuba collaboration, as well as the invaluable contribution of Cuban medical professionals and educational opportunities that have benefited countless Ghanaians over the years.
Looking back today, this engagement holds even greater significance as I now have the distinct honour of serving as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ghana to the Republic of Cuba. It serves as a reminder that diplomacy is built over time through meaningful relationships, mutual respect and a shared commitment to the progress of our peoples.
I remain committed to deepening the historic ties between Ghana and Cuba and advancing our partnership for the benefit of both nations.

🇬🇭 HONOURING THE LEGACY OF GHANA'S FOUNDER

On Sunday, 22nd September 2024, I had the privilege of serving as Guest of Honour at the First Joint Sitting of Both Chambers of Youth Impact Parliament - YIP Ghana, held at the HTU SRC JCR Hall, Ho, in my capacity as Patron of Youth Impact Movement. At the time, I was also serving as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana.

During my presentation, I delivered a lecture on the historical contributions of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, tracing his leadership journey and highlighting the pivotal role he played in Ghana's struggle for independence. I also explained the historical and constitutional basis for recognising Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the Founder of the Republic of Ghana.

It was inspiring to engage with the young parliamentarians as they deliberated on national issues and demonstrated their commitment to democratic governance, leadership and civic responsibility.

As Patron of Youth Impact Parliament, I remain committed to nurturing informed, ethical and visionary young leaders by promoting civic education, historical awareness and meaningful participation in Ghana's democratic process.

Our history is our identity, and understanding it is essential to building a stronger future for our nation.

🇬🇭 MENTORING THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS

On Sunday, 18th February 2024, I had the honour of attending the Seventh Parliamentary Sitting (Second Sitting of the Second Session) of the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament Ghana (YIP) at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall in my capacity as Patron of Youth Impact Parliament, a role I continue to cherish.

The sitting, presided over by the Rt. Hon. Jones Amegashie-Viglo, Speaker of the Third Parliament of Youth Impact Parliament, brought together young parliamentary leaders committed to promoting democratic values, ethical leadership and youth participation in governance.

I was delighted to join my distinguished colleagues, Hon. Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, and Hon. Wisdom Kobena Woyome, Member of Parliament for South Tongu, as Guests of Honour. At the time, I was also serving as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana.

Addressing these young leaders was both inspiring and encouraging. As Patron, I remain committed to mentoring and supporting Youth Impact Parliament in its mission to nurture competent, ethical and service-oriented young leaders who will contribute meaningfully to Ghana's democratic development.

Investing in young people today is an investment in a stronger, more prosperous Ghana tomorrow.

🇬🇭 SUPPORTING EDUCATION THROUGH SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

On Tuesday, 16th December 2025, I had the privilege of joining the leadership of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC for the groundbreaking ceremony of a borehole project at Taviefe Senior High School in the Ho Municipality.

I attended the event in my capacity as Former Member of Parliament for Ho Central while also serving as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana.

The project, undertaken under Republic Bank's Power to Make a Difference (PMAD) initiative, reflects the Bank's commitment to improving lives through impactful corporate social responsibility and supports Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all.

In my remarks, I highlighted the importance of the project in addressing the persistent water challenges affecting educational institutions and communities within the Volta Region. I commended Republic Bank for its timely intervention and its continued investment in initiatives that promote education, health and sustainable development.

The Managing Director of Republic Bank, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, emphasized that the project represents more than the provision of water infrastructure—it is an investment in the future of young people. He encouraged the students of Taviefe Senior High School to make good use of the improved access to water by dedicating more time to their studies and striving for academic excellence.

The ceremony was graced by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, as the Special Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Edem Kpotosu; the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho Central, Hon. Stephen Adom; officials of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC; traditional leaders; the management, staff and students of Taviefe Senior High School; and other distinguished guests.

Access to clean water is fundamental to quality education, improved health and community development. I remain encouraged by partnerships between the public and private sectors that deliver meaningful and lasting impact to our communities.

🇬🇭 INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF PARLIAMENTARY LEADERS

On Wednesday, 29th November 2023, while serving as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, I had the distinct pleasure of welcoming members of the Youth Impact Parliament (YIP) to Parliament House, Accra, as part of an educational visit organised by the Public Engagement Department of Parliament.

As the Patron and Mentor of Youth Impact Parliament, it was particularly gratifying to host these young parliamentary leaders and witness their enthusiasm to learn more about Ghana's democratic institutions and parliamentary processes.

The visit provided participants with a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the history, structure and constitutional role of the Parliament of Ghana in promoting good governance, democracy and national development.

The students received insightful presentations from Supt. Effia Tenge (Rtd.), Director of the Public Engagement Department, who traced the evolution of Ghana's Legislature and highlighted Parliament's vital role in national development.

The programme was further enriched by presentations from Hon. Komla Kpodo, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, who explained the functions of Parliament, the work of parliamentary committees and the legislative process, and Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi, who encouraged young citizens to actively participate in parliamentary democracy, including through the submission of petitions to Parliament.

Hon. Dafeamekpor also highlighted the Open Government Parliament Initiative, championed by the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, which seeks to make Parliament more transparent, inclusive and accessible to the people of Ghana.

Mentoring young people and exposing them to the workings of Parliament remains one of the most rewarding aspects of public service. I firmly believe that nurturing informed, ethical and service-oriented young leaders is essential to strengthening Ghana's democracy and securing a brighter future for our nation.

I remain proud of the remarkable growth of Youth Impact Parliament and will continue to support initiatives that empower young people to become responsible, competent and visionary leaders.

🇬🇭 STANDING WITH THE PEOPLE OF VOLTA DURING THE AKOSOMBO DAM SPILLAGE

On Monday, 23rd October 2023, in my capacity as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament, I had the honour of representing the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, at a durbar in Sogakope to present a donation of GH¢100,000 on behalf of Parliament to support communities affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

I was accompanied by Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, then Deputy Clerk to Parliament, as we conveyed Parliament's message of solidarity and compassion to the affected communities during this difficult period.

The donation formed part of Parliament's commitment to supporting relief efforts and demonstrating empathy towards the thousands of families whose homes, livelihoods and daily lives were disrupted by the disaster.

The donation was received by Hon. Wisdom Kobena Woyome, Member of Parliament for South Tongu, who expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Rt. Hon. Speaker and the Parliament of Ghana for the timely gesture and unwavering support.

Moments such as these remind us that leadership is not only about making laws and policies—it is also about standing with our people in times of hardship, offering hope, and contributing meaningfully to their recovery.

My thoughts and prayers remain with all the individuals and families who were affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage. May we continue to work together to build stronger, safer and more resilient communities.

🇬🇭 RECALLING A DIPLOMATIC ENGAGEMENT WITH THE RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR 🤝🇷🇺

On Wednesday, 24th May 2023, I had the honour of participating in a high-level diplomatic engagement when H.E. Sergei Berdnikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Ghana, paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, at Parliament House, Accra.

At the time, I was privileged to serve as Chief of Staff to the Rt. Hon. Speaker, and it was a pleasure to be part of discussions aimed at strengthening the longstanding relations between Ghana and the Russian Federation, enhancing parliamentary diplomacy, and deepening cooperation between our two countries.

During the meeting, the Rt. Hon. Speaker reaffirmed Ghana's historic friendship with Russia, highlighting the important role Russia played in supporting Africa's struggle for independence and its continued contributions to Ghana's development through education, scientific research, energy, and other strategic sectors. He also expressed confidence in the Ghana-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Association as a platform for strengthening parliamentary exchanges and cooperation.

The Speaker further expressed hope for the restoration of peace and stability in the Russia-Ukraine conflict and assured the Ambassador of Parliament's support throughout his diplomatic mission in Ghana.

In his remarks, Ambassador Sergei Berdnikov underscored the enduring relationship between Ghana and Russia, which predates Ghana's independence, and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and sustaining the longstanding ties between our two nations.

Reflecting on this engagement reminds me of the enduring value of diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and mutual respect in advancing international cooperation and fostering lasting partnerships among nations.
