🐝🎬 BEEKEEPERS, THERE’S A NEW MOVIE YOU’LL WANT TO SEE!
The Rivals of Amziah King, starring Matthew McConaughey, begins its limited theatrical release TODAY, August 14, and beekeeping isn’t just something happening in the background. It’s a major part of the story.
McConaughey plays Amziah King, a beekeeper and honey producer in rural Oklahoma, and throughout the movie you’ll see plenty that should look familiar to anyone who has spent time in an apiary. 🍯🐝
The film features:
🐝 Real, live bees rather than relying on CGI
🏠 Bee boxes and working hives
🍯 Honey production and handling
🔪 Uncapping honey frames
🧰 Authentic beekeeping equipment
👨🌾 Actors who were actually trained by experienced beekeepers to move and work around the bees more realistically
That movie is especially fun for those of us who keep bees. You may find yourself watching the background as much as the actors, checking out the equipment, the hives and how everything is being handled! 😂🐝
Just remember, it’s a Hollywood movie, not a beekeeping documentary, so we’re sure there will still be plenty for beekeepers to talk about afterward!
