The Cormorant was sitting happily with his fish catch on the shore until the Black-collared hawk decided to swoop down and claim the fish. Costa Rica last week :-)

Turrialba Birding Tours Mountain Reservee 🌿🐦

A few highlights from recent visits—and what a fantastic time of year it’s been! The mix of species right now is really starting to shift, with a great blend of resident favorites and seasonal movement keeping things fresh every day.

From dazzling hummingbirds (yes, the Snowcap is still showing beautifully 💜) to soaring raptors like hawk-eagles and king vultures, there’s constant action overhead and in the forest. Toucans, tanagers, and the occasional surprise sighting keep every outing exciting.

It’s one of those periods where you just never know what’s going to pop out next—and that’s what makes birding here so much fun.
