Do you remember these little ones? They were born during the first week of April 💛

Now, at over 7 weeks old, they are beginning to explore their surroundings and learn the skills they will need to survive in the wild. 🌿

Their mothers will continue caring for and guiding them for many more months as they grow stronger and more independent. ✨

If you are lucky enough to spot wildlife like this, always remember to keep a respectful distance and allow them to remain wild. Observing without interfering is one of the best ways to protect them. 🙌🏽

This past week, we had the pleasure of welcoming back students from McGill University in Canada led by Juan Camilo Serpa.

The students are assign to different groups according to their interest and studies in technology, environmental ecology, or wildlife conservation. 🎓🌿

This year has been especially meaningful, as we are not only hosting their visit but also collaborating with them on projects designed to support and contribute directly to the sanctuary’s work. 🤝💚 Working together on initiatives that benefit wildlife conservation makes this partnership even more special.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn more about Sibu, meet our resident animals 🐒🦜, and better understand the challenges wildlife faces in Nosara and across Guanacaste.

Today, many countries around the world are celebrating Mother’s Day 💛

While Mother’s Day in Costa Rica is officially celebrated in August, we want to take a moment to honor all the mothers around the world, including the incredible moms in nature. 🌿

Howler monkey mothers share many similarities with human mothers: they protect, nurture, teach, comfort, and carry their babies close as they grow and learn about the world. The bond between a mother and her baby is something deeply important across so many species. 🐒💚

Feliz día . 🌎✨

Hello visitors from the mountains! 🐒

Last week, a troop of white-faced capuchins (Cebus imitator) passed through Sibu, just for a moment, coming from the Nosara mountains where they usually stay. 🍃

They are usually looking for more water and food, just at the end of the dry season. ☀️

Their presence is a reminder that they are here too, moving through these Forrest, depending on connected habitats to survive.

Protect the trees, plant more and respect wildlife. 🙏🏽

🌎 New born on at Sibu Wildlife Sanctuary. 🐒

Today, on , this tiny new life, a newborn howler monkey, is a symbol of hope. Born few days ago around Sibu and into a world that is changing fast, where forests are shrinking and dangers like electrocution are very real. We need to protect our home every single day.

At Sibu, we witness both the fragility and resilience of wildlife. Every resident, every tree protected, every visitor educated is part of a bigger mission, to give them a safer future.

This Earth Day, we invite you to look closer, care deeper, and act with intention. Because their survival depends on the choices we make.

💚 Protect wildlife
🌱 Preserve habitats
⚡ Prevent electrocutions

Together, we can make a difference.

Bongo is one of our visitors’ favorite residents and we decided to put him in our 2026 Calendar as April cover. 🐒

Bongo is now 3.5 years old. He arrived at Sibu when he was just one year old after suffering a serious fall that caused head trauma.

Every day he continues to make progress. Bongo is moving more, improving his skills, using his tail more confidently, and even learning how to howl.

You can help support Bongo’s recovery and care.

Donate today or book your visit to meet him. 💚
