PM Abiy Ahmed Ali Inaugurates Major Riverside Development Project in Addis Ababa

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali officially opened the Entoto to Kechene Medhanealem Riverside Development Project on Tuesday morning, a day after the nation’s 7th General Election.

The landmark initiative, which spans a 22.25-kilometer corridor, is designed to revitalize the capital’s core by transforming previously degraded areas into expansive green spaces. According to the Prime Minister, the project integrates advanced soil conservation measures, river purification systems, and fruit parks, seamlessly connected by pedestrian walkways and cycling trails.

“This project stands as a tangible symbol of our progress and a practical demonstration of national growth, environmental restoration, and urban renewal,” Abiy stated during the inauguration.

The riverside development is part of broader efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and public recreation infrastructure in Addis Ababa.
