Last week, the Finnish Ambassador to China, Mr. Mikko Kinnunen, visited Shanghai. During his visit, he met with several Finnish companies to hear updates on their operations in China.

Together with colleagues from the Consulate General of Finland in Shanghai, the Ambassador held informative meetings with leaders from Metsä, Stora Enso, Valmet, UPM, and other companies. He also had the honor of joining the celebrations in Kunshan, where KONE marked its 30-year journey in China. A truly memorable day to commemorate KONE’s significant contributions in the country. Between the celebrations, the Ambassador explored Kunshan and visited the Kunshan Opera Museum

Additionally, the Ambassador traveled to Changzhou, where he met with Dr. Chen Yanbin, Chairman of Easpring. Easpring Finland is currently building a battery materials plant in Kotka, Finland. During the visit, the Ambassador met with around 25 Finns who were in Changzhou for training, learning more about the production process of cathode active material (CAM).

Over the past few years, the Finnish Embassy running club has been active in multiple cities: Seoul, Hong Kong, Nanning, Ulaanbaatar, Shijiazhuang, Ulanqab, and Shanghai.

Today was finally the time for our Beijing debut, as three colleagues from the Embassy ran the Beijing Shunyi Half Marathon. Let’s see where the road takes us next!

The Embassy of Finland in Beijing was honored to host a screening of an artwork by Finnish artist Kristiina Koskentola, created together with Han Xiaohan.

“Thawing of the Frozen River” blends visual art and shamanic music, filmed across the Amur River and Lake Saimaa. This powerful piece explores the connections between nature, spirit, and the world beyond.

Last week, the Embassy of Finland together with 10 Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences, held an event for alumni from Finnish higher education institutions.

There were around 70 participants with both alumni and higher education representatives in attendance. The event featured speeches on Finnish-Chinese relations, business connections and even about the translation of Moomin books into Chinese.

Thank you to all participants for a wonderful night of reunions and making new connections!

Yesterday, the Embassy of Finland in Beijing organized Ukrainian film screening event in cooperation with all five Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden 🇩🇰🇫🇮🇮🇸🇳🇴🇸🇪

The event featured documentary movie called The Porcelain War, a powerful award-winning film that beautifully portrays how, despite hardship and loss, Ukrainians strive to remain human and supportive of one another. 🇺🇦

Kevään 2026 EDUFI-harjoittelun hakukierroksella on avoinna paikkoja sekä Pekingissä että Shanghaissa. Toivottu harjoitteluajankohta heinä–joulukuu 2026 tai sopimuksen mukaan.

Edustustoharjoitteluhaussa etsitään harjoittelijoita Pekingiin (kauppatiimi) ja Shanghaihin (mm. maakuva- ja viestintätehtävät). Lisäksi Pekingissä on avoinna Team Finland Knowledge -verkoston harjoittelupaikka koulutustiimissä.

Harjoittelu vahvistaa valmiuksia työskennellä julkishallinnossa, kansainvälisten asioiden parissa ja monikulttuurisessa työympäristössä. Kiinan edustustomme tarjoavat harjoittelijoille kokeneiden kollegoiden tuen, monipuoliset tehtävät ja hyvän tilaisuuden perehtyä Suomen kansainväliseen toimintaan Kiinassa mukavassa työilmapiirissä.

Finnish Higher Education Alumni Events in China!

The Embassy of Finland in Beijing, the Consulate General of Finland in Shanghai, Finnish Universities, and Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences are hosting two events for alumni of Finnish higher education institutions.

Alumni from Aalto University, Hanken University, Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, University of Helsinki, LUT University, Oulu University, Jamk University of Applied Sciences, University of Jyväskylä, Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and University of Vaasa are welcome to join the events, which will be held in Beijing (March 17th) and Shanghai (March 19th).
