We were honored to hear from this tireless advocate who has such an extensive history of working to build community and encourage voter engagement. His voice on voting rights and democratic participation is inspiring, particularly the ways in which he is able to connect today’s challenges to the long history of Americans working to expand and protect the right to vote.

He reminds Americans abroad that our distance from the US does not diminish our responsibility to participate in our democracy and leaves us with a hopeful perspective on the challenges we must work to meet day by day.
