On 5th August, 2025, His Excellency Allan Joseph Chintedza Malawi’s Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore received in audience Mr. Benard Lim, Special Envoy of the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Singapore at the Malawi Embassy in Beijing. The discussions between the two centered on the importance of efficient and effective transport infrastructures which could help open up landlocked countries like Malawi to facilitate trade.
The Special Envoy informed the Ambassador that Singapore is reaching out to Africa so that it can share its experiences with the region through capacity development. He indicated that Singapore has trained over 180 Malawians in Civil Aviation courses and that the Singapore government is committed to continue offering these courses to Malawians, not only in Civil Aviation, but in many other fields as well. The Ambassador appreciated the contributions of the Government of Singapore in capacity development in Malawi. He indicated that in addition to capacity development, Malawi is open to cooperate with the Government of Singapore in many areas such as mining and other areas where Singapore has the expertise.
The Ambassador also asked the envoy if Singapore Airlines could consider introducing more flights to Africa so as to increase connectivity between Africa and Asia. The envoy indicated that the request will be shared with Singapore Airlines for their consideration since many African countries had made this request.
