April 25th, the Representation of the Faroe Islands in Beijing held the Faroese Flag Day reception in the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark.

On 25 April 1940, the British occupation government approved the flag for use by Faroese vessels. Britain did not want the same flag as German-occupied Denmark to be used. April 25 is still celebrated as Flaggdagur, which is a national holiday. With the Home Rule Act of 1948, the flag, Merkið, was recognized by the Danish Government as the national flag of the Faroes.

Photos from the Faroes were shown on the reception, where the guests among other delicacies could enjoy salmon from the Faroe Islands. Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful guests, who honoured the Faroe Islands on our Flag Day.

The Nordic Cinema Art Week brings sustainability stories to Beijing
Chinese moviegoers will have the opportunity to enjoy a slate of Nordic films during the upcoming Nordic Cinema Art Week in Beijing, which runs from 25 to 28 February 2023 at the heart of the 798 Art District.
Sustainable Stories bring filmmakers and audiences together to discuss sustainability in all its forms from co-operation on the environment and climate to collaboration with civil society and more. From remote North Atlantic islands to cozy Scandinavian homes, the films challenge us to rethink how each of us can contribute to the green transition in everyday life and spaces.
During this fourth edition of the Nordic Cinema Art Week of cultural exchange, film lovers will have a chance to enjoy a rich variety of contemporary cinema from the Nordic Region, including Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. Taking place at the Danish Cultural Center, the Nordic Cinema Art Week will present five documentaries, five shorts and two feature films.
The program is organized by all the Nordic representations in Beijing together with Danish Cultural Center. It is supported by the Nordic Council of Ministers as part of its expressed goal to transform the Nordic Region into the most climate conscious and integrated region of the world by 2030.
All screenings are free of charge. Festival program and registration details can be found on the Danish Cultural Center WeChat page.
