Action for Development in Nchum Community ADENCO is a development organization serving as a branch of the Nchum Development Association (NDA) in Yaounde.

Nchum is one of the major Villages of the Bafut Fondom in the North West Region of Cameroon. As a community made up of a united people working together for their own development, they came together to found the Nchum Development Association (NDA). NDA is today the main development agency for the community. With the support of its sons and daughters, NDA consistently coordinates developmental proje

cts in the village. Thanks to the collaborative work and expertise of its illustrious sons and daughters in Yaounde, the Village has witnessed numerous developmental infrastructures such as but not limited to Pipe-borne water, Electricity, Community hall, School buildings etc.

𝗔 𝗟𝗘𝗚𝗔𝗖𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘, 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗔𝗟

My dearest Members of Action for Development in Nchum Community (ADENCO), since 2004, leading ADENCO has been far more than a mandate for me—it has been an extraordinary human adventure. Together, we have gone through thick and thin, overcome obstacles that at times seemed insurmountable, celebrated exhilarating milestones, and braved storms of every magnitude. At each step, your dedication and loyalty made all the difference.

At a time when we are gradually becoming a financially sustainable organization given our flagship project- The Investment Fund with its high potential and a symbol of a brighter future for us, I pay tribute to all members, both old and new, who have walked this journey with me, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the various Executive Committees for their tireless work and unwavering sense of duty. Thanks to you, these 22 years have been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my life.

It is with immense gratitude that I celebrate you all for accepting my decision made known at the start of the just-ended mandate to allow me step back for a well-deserved rest. I step back humbly, yet with deep peace of mind, knowing that ADENCO’s future is secure. The new leadership will be carried by someone who has been carefully selected, prepared, groomed, and shaped for succession—a true sign of organizational maturity and long-term vision.

I warmly congratulate the Executive President-Elect, Mr. Shunganui Abongnwi, my bold candidate, and welcome him into this noble and demanding mission: leading an organization as transformative and exemplary as ADENCO toward new horizons. I settle into my rest with full confidence, convinced that we are heading toward better days—driven by a renewed vision and new rays of hope.

Words can’t describe the feeling, level of peace and satisfaction when you get to the point where you can sit back and watch an organization you’ve labored for years to build, gather steam and speed on without you in the driver’s seat.

Standing Strong in the Face of Adversity

When a community that shares a common cultural heritage, language, or origin chooses to undermine the very efforts made in their interest, it strikes at the heart of sacrifice.

The Leadership of ADENCO (Action for Development in Nchum Community) has long stood on the frontlines of service—mobilizing resources, advocating for the voiceless, and initiating programs aimed at the long-term growth and self-reliance of the Nchum people. The vision has always been clear: to empower the community through education, health, economic opportunity, and good governance. Every effort has been rooted in a genuine desire to see the Nchum people thrive on their own terms, grounded in their cultural identity and collective strength.

Yet, it is deeply disheartening when some within the very community—those who share the language, the history, and the dreams—allow selfish motives, narrow interests, or personal ambition to distort or sabotage this shared mission. It is even more painful when this resistance comes not as constructive criticism but as deliberate attempts to downplay, discredit, or derail progress that was meant for the benefit of all.

ADENCO's leadership understands that sustainable development is not always glamorous. It requires discipline, sacrifice, and decisions that may not always align with immediate personal gain. But the path we have chosen is not one of convenience—it is one of conviction. We have walked this path not for recognition but because we believe in a future where the Nchum community rises by its own strength, informed by its own values.

Still, we remain undeterred. Our leadership is grounded in principle, humility, and accountability. We do not lead to be praised—we lead to serve. We know that history often vindicates those who stay the course with integrity, even when the present moment feels thankless.

The Leadership of ADENCO will continue to act with clarity of purpose and a firm commitment to the common good. Our mission is larger than any individual or momentary setback. We believe that change—real, lasting change—is worth the sacrifice. And we trust that, in time, even those who resist will come to see the value of what we are building together.

When washing gold, the water and basket help separate valuable grains from the waste. The lighter, useless particles are easily washed away, while the gold—dense and precious—remains. Similarly, in a group of people aiming for greatness, challenges, and time act as a "washing process." Those who lack vision, create trouble, or resist growth will eventually "flow away" because they cannot withstand the refining process. On the other hand, those with true value—integrity, ambition, and resilience—will remain, just like the grains of gold that stay in the basket.

In essence, the journey to higher heights naturally separates those who are meant to be part of the success from those who are not.
