Long before Volunteers reach their sites, so much happens behind the scenes.

Peace Corps staff and communities work together for months — building relationships, setting shared goals, preparing host families, and creating the foundation for a strong, successful service.

Volunteer success does not happen in isolation— it’s built through partnership, trust, and the dedication of communities, counterparts, host families, and staff who pave the way. 💚🌍✨

Carrying last week’s energy into a new one ✨.

Country Director Austin and the program managers had the pleasure of engaging directly with American and Cameroonian students enrolled in a study abroad program in Cameroon. The students showed genuine curiosity and engagement throughout the visit.

Moments like these remind us that service and global connection begin with genuine dialogue and shared curiosity. 🌎.

As part of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, our team joined the global movement by wearing jeans 👖 to stand in solidarity with victims and survivors of sexual violence.

Today serves as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to speak out, support survivors, and work together toward a future free from gender‑based violence.

Site preparation is in full swing!

Our team has been preparing the communities that will soon welcome our June cohort. Site preparation is a thorough process that includes visits to host organizations, meetings with community partners 🤝, local leaders, and administrative officials, as well as assessments of the security environment 🔎, nearby health facilities, and housing options 🏠.

Program managers, the safety and security manager, and our medical officer have hit the ground running to ensure Volunteers receive the best support and service experience possible.
