Specific Training

🏛️ Capacity building: NASLA is training Mbonge Local Council staff on "budget ex*****on and accounting for local authorities"

🎓 Since Monday 25 May 2026, the National School of Local Administration (NASLA) has been hosting staff from the Mbonge Local Council, for a capacity-building seminar on the theme:
📝 "Budget ex*****on, operations and accounting in Regional and Local Authorities".

📅 Scheduled for 25–29 May 2026, this Specific Training course aims at strengthening participants’ skills in budget management, financial ex*****on and accounting for Regional and Local Authorities (RLAs), in line with the reforms currently in force in the local finance sector. 💼📊

📖 The seminar covers five main modules, notably:
🔹 Preparation of the Performance- based budget;
🔹 Budget ex*****on;
🔹 Accounting in Regional Local Authorities;
🔹 The Authorising Officer’s administrative account;
🔹 The Municipal Treasurer’s management account.

⚖️ This initiative falls within the framework of reforms governed by several regulatory texts, including the Decree of 17 June 2021 establishing a new budgetary nomenclature for RLAs, the 2024 Finance Act, and the circulars relating to the preparation and ex*****on of budgets for Regional and Local Authorities. 📑

🤝 Through this session, NASLA reaffirms its commitment to building the capacity of local stakeholders to ensure more effective and modern financial governance that meets decentralization requirements.🌍📈

🇨🇲 SPECIFIC TRAINING :

On Sunday, 24th May 2026, 347 trainees of Cycle A and B of the third batch of initial training of the National School of Local Administration (NASLA) Buea officially arrived at the Police Training Centre in Mutengene for the launch of the Simplified Military Training (PMS). 🪖

The trainees were accompanied by the Director General of NASLA and his close collaborators, in the presence of the Divisional Commissioner of CIAP Mutengene, highlighting NASLA’s commitment to training future local administrators beyond the classroom. 🎓

This training program aims to instill discipline, patriotism 🇨🇲, leadership, citizenship, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility among trainees to prepare them mentally, physically, and professionally for effective Local Public Service.

For a duration of 45 days, the trainees will undergo intensive military-oriented training focused on peace, security, public order, and national unity. 🤝

More than just training, this is a transformative exercise worthy of shaping future leaders for local development and nation building in Cameroon. 🇨🇲

Célébration de la 140e édition de la Fête Internationale du Travail à la NASLA : un engagement renouvelé pour le dialogue social et le travail décent.

Dans le cadre de la célébration de la 140e édition de la Fête Internationale du Travail, la National School of Local Administration (NASLA) a marqué de son empreinte cette commémoration placée sous le thème : « Dialogue social et travail décent : facteur de paix, de cohésion sociale et de développement économique de l’entreprise ».

À cet effet, le personnel de la NASLA a pris part, le 1er mai 2026, au traditionnel défilé organisé à la Place des Fêtes de Limbé, dans la région du Sud-Ouest. Par une mobilisation remarquable et une participation disciplinée, les agents de l’institution ont ainsi réaffirmé leur attachement aux valeurs de solidarité, de cohésion sociale et de promotion du travail décent.

Il convient de souligner que cette parade constitue l’aboutissement d’une semaine d’activités intenses et diversifiées, organisées en prélude à cette célébration. En effet, le personnel de la NASLA a activement participé à plusieurs initiatives internes visant le renforcement des capacités et le bien-être au travail. Parmi celles-ci figuraient notamment :
• un campus organisé au sein de la NASLA à Buea, favorisant les échanges professionnels et le partage d’expériences ;

• un atelier consacré à la gestion du stress en milieu professionnel, mettant en lumière les bonnes pratiques pour un environnement de travail sain et productif ;

• des activités de sport et de détente, incluant des matchs de football masculin et féminin, contribuant à renforcer l’esprit d’équipe et la convivialité ;

• un exposé portant sur les défis liés à la mise en œuvre des missions de certaines structures de la NASLA, permettant d’identifier des pistes d’amélioration et de consolidation des performances institutionnelles.

À travers l’ensemble de ces activités, la NASLA réaffirme sa volonté de promouvoir un cadre de travail harmonieux, fondé sur le dialogue social, la valorisation du capital humain et la recherche permanente de l’efficacité.

📌 On Friday 24 April 2026 , NASLA had the honour of welcoming H.E. Mr. Matt Woods, British High Commissioner to Cameroon, to its campus in Buea.

This courtesy visit reflects the enduring institutional relationship between NASLA and the British High Commission - a partnership grounded in shared commitments.

In 2022, a financing agreement made possible with the technical support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, facilitated the organization of a series of targeted training sessions for administrative and traditional authorities from the Special Status Regions and other Regions of Cameroon, on the theme "Accountability and Good Governance " , an initiative that speaks to the convergence of values underpinning this collaboration.

The visit gave His Excellency the opportunity to engage with the institution at first hand on subjects such as: its missions, its student body, and its academic programmes. Time spent in a Business Development class offered a direct sense of the pedagogical quality and commitment that define our student cohorts. A tour of the NASLA academic and sports facilities crowned the courtesy visit.

NASLA remains committed to the principles that have long guided its partnership with the United Kingdom, and to the belief that efficient and ethical local administration is among the most durable foundations of inclusive development.

🇨🇲🤝🇨🇦 NASLA – Canada : une coopération durable au service de la gouvernance locale

La National School of Local Administration (NASLA) a accueilli, à Buéa, Son Excellence Marie-Claude Harvey, Haut-Commissaire du Canada au Cameroun, dans le cadre d’une visite marquée par des échanges constructifs.

Troisième Haut-Commissaire canadien à visiter l’institution, cette présence illustre la solidité d’un partenariat inscrit dans la durée. La NASLA avait notamment bénéficié en 2022 du Fonds canadien d’initiatives locales (FCIL) pour un projet dédié à la participation politique des femmes dans les Régions à statut spécial.

Les discussions ont porté sur le rôle de la formation et de la recherche appliquée dans le renforcement de la gouvernance locale, ainsi que sur les perspectives d’approfondissement de la coopération.

La NASLA réaffirme ainsi son engagement en faveur d’une décentralisation efficace, en cohérence avec les priorités du Canada en Afrique : gouvernance inclusive, développement local et promotion d’une administration publique intègre.

IN-SERVICE TRAINING: NASLA LAUNCHES 5TH BATCH

The National School of Local Administration (NASLA) has officially launched the 5th batch of its In-service Training programme at its Buea campus. The ceremony, presided over by the Deputy Director General, brought together several administrative officials and trainers of the Institution.

This training forms part of the ongoing decentralization process, with the aim of strengthening the capacities of executives and personnel of Regional and Local Authorities (RLAs). It seeks to equip them with practical and up-to-date skills to enhance local governance, optimise resource management, and deliver more effective public services to the population.

Six (06) career paths have been opened for this batch: General Secretariat of RLAs, Territorial Development, Budget and Finance Management, Hygiene and Public Sanitation, General Affairs, and Civil Status and Social Services Management.

Through this initiative, NASLA reaffirms its commitment to professionalising local stakeholders and supporting the development of an efficient, results-oriented territorial administration.

Le Directeur Général de la National School of Local Administration (NASLA) porte à la connaissance des candidats ayant présenté les concours d'entrée dans cette institution, pour le recrutement de deux cents (200) élèves au Cycle A, de cent-vingt (120) élèves au cycle B, et de quatre-vingts élèves (80) au Cycle C, que les résultats définitifs ont été rendus publics par le Ministre de la Décentralisation et du Développement Local.
