The Embassy is very much aware of the situation trending in Abidjan concerning the alleged involvement of Liberian nationals in the recent attack on the Abobo military base. The Embassy is investigating the incident in collaboration with the Ivorian security authorities. Secondly, the Embassy wishes to advise everyone to remain calm and be vigilant as the police carry out their duties with regards to this investigation. The Embassy will do everything within its power to seek the quick release of all law abiding and peaceful Liberian citizens residing in Côte d'Ivoire that have been caught up in this unfortunate situation. Stay safe and stay well.

For your information:

Today, Monday, October 26, 2020, we are entering a very sensitive electoral period. We therefore recommend that you be extremely careful during this period.

ABelow are some tips to observe.

I. VIGILANCE
1- Do not get involved in hateful political debates.
2- Avoid non-essential travel.
3- Take the safest roads, not the fastest.
4- Avoid late descents.
5- Avoid night outings.
6- Show discretion and avoid routine (routes, exit times).
7- Remain vigilant upon arrival at home and upon departure.
8- Adopt "* calm *" and "* courtesy *" during police checks.
9- Systematically lock your vehicle with the key.
10- Always park in secure, lighted, uninsulated places.
11- Make sure that all the doors and windows in the home are closed.
12- Do not go to the ATM alone at night.
13- Always have a little money on you to satisfy potential aggressors.
14- Do not walk or jog alone.

II. PROVISIONS
15- Replenish your stock of food and non-perishable items.
16- Keep essential drugs.
17- Reinforce your first aid kit.
18- Have a sufficient quantity of fuel in your vehicle.
19- Have liquidity with you.
20- Obtain flashlights.
21- Have water reserves.
