𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘: Philippine Embassy in Berne Holds Briefing on Psychological First Aid

Berne, 5 September 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Berne conducted a briefing on psychological first aid (PFA) for members of the Filipino community, focusing on practical, culturally sensitive support for persons in distress.

Retired Filipino psychologist and counselor Annabelle “Anny” Misa Hefti was invited to serve as a resource speaker, during which she defined PFA as a form of practical, compassionate, and evidence-based support provided following a crisis or trauma—not as therapy. She underscored the need for culturally sensitive care for Filipinos, integrating concepts such as bayanihan, malasakit, and pakikiramay, while also considering hiya, utang na loob, and privacy.

Ms. Misa Hefti is founder of Samahang Pilipina Bern and a two-time honoree of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World (Global FWN100) by the Filipina Women’s Network. She co-founded Samahang Pilipina Luzern and Zürich, Babaylan Philippine Women’s Network in Europe, the Migrant Women’s Forum in Bern, and the European Network of Filipinos in Diaspora.

The briefing was organized for volunteers of the Community Participation in Assistance to Nationals (COMPASS) Network. COMPASS members assist overseas Filipinos in distress in coordination with the Embassy. The activity supports the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Gender and Development Agenda by strengthening gender-responsive assistance-to-nationals services, particularly in violence against women and children cases, and by equipping the community to respond to gender-related issues.

𝗜𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: The Philippine Embassy in Berne invites the Filipino community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein to a Financial Literacy Session on Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs) to learn about the features, benefits, and available investment platforms of RTBs.

RTBs are peso-denominated, low-risk, fixed-income investments that provide interest every quarter. They are part of the Philippine Government’s savings mobilization program designed to enhance retail access to government securities.

The online session, organized by the Bureau of Treasury, are scheduled on the following dates and times (𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦):

The following services will be rendered:
- Renewal and first time applications of Electronic Passport (e-Passport)
- Retention/Reacquisition of Philippine Citizenship or Dual Citizenship
- Applications for Civil Registry Reporting: Reports of Birth, Marriage, and Death
- Notarization: Acknowledgment, Jurat, Waiver of Exclusion Grounds, and NBI Clearance
- Overseas Voter Registration
- MWO services: Contract verification, OEC issuance, and OWWA membership and renewal
Pag-IBIG services: Records verification, Data change request, Benefit claims, and assistance in Virtual Pag-IBIG

Filipinos located in Zürich canton and its neighboring cantons, Aargau, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, St. Gallen, Thurgau, and Zug are encouraged to avail of the services mentioned above.
