ICYMI: I had the honor of recognizing Justin Thornton, owner of The Alderson Inn, as the first veteran-owned business to receive the veteran-owned business certification in Monroe County.

I enjoyed honoring Justin alongside Delegate Ray Canterbury. We are all indebted to Justin and other veterans for their service to our country.

Through the WV Secretary of State's Office’s Certified Veteran Owned Business Program, my Office is proud to recognize these veterans’ economic contributions to our community.

It was an honor to speak yesterday at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Logan’s new coal history mural.

As always, it is wonderful to visit historic downtown Logan, where the mural is proudly displayed on the side of The 910 Restaurant at 410 Main Street. The mural honors coal miners, families, and communities whose contributions helped shape Logan County’s rich coal heritage.

Created by artist Tom Acosta, the mural tells the story of coal’s lasting impact on the region. It is a fitting tribute to the area’s history of powering West Virginia and the broader country.

Thank you to Logan City Clerk Amber Miller-Belcher, who led the ceremony, and to Logan Mayor Serafino Nolletti, who performed the official ribbon-cutting. I hope to be back soon!

ICYMI: As your Secretary of State, I have the honor of serving as your Chief Elections Officer and Chief Business Officer. This month, I have had the pleasure of delivering addresses at our State Capitol discussing both roles.

Two weeks ago, I spoke at the West Virginia Digital Innovation and Economic Development Breakfast Briefing. My talk highlighted the important work the WV Secretary of State's Office is doing to spur entrepreneurship through our new West Virginia Office of Entrepreneurship, which began operations in July following the passage of Senate Bill 878. We are committed to making West Virginia the premier place to start a new business!

The day before, I was thrilled to speak with a group of high school and college students through the West Virginia Black Voter Impact Initiative. In my talk, I discussed the Jennings Randolph Award, which honors high schools with high student voter registration rates, the Young Entrepreneur Fee Waiver Program, and answered questions from the group. It is always wonderful to see young, engaged voters!

Yesterday was sadly the last day of the 2026 State Fair of West Virginia, but it was amazing to see so many West Virginians and people from around our country visit the Fair this year.

It was wonderful to see so many people stop by the WV Secretary of State's Office booth in the West Virginia Building, including the Governor! We were glad to tell so many West Virginians about the critical work we do in overseeing West Virginia's elections, helping West Virginia businesses, and more.

We are already looking forward to next year!
