National Women’s Liberation is a feminist group for women who want to fight back against male supremacy and win more freedom for women. We believe that change comes about from the actions of everyday people—not politicians, the courts, lobbyists, or the media. The freedoms we have now were won by movements of women, organizing and fighting for change. Men did not become less s*xist or decide to give women the vote or legalize birth control because of our individual abilities to reason with them, educate them, or because they love us so much. The inequalities between women and men are political problems that require a collective solution. We aim to build an organization of feminist organizers to bring new fire to the fight for our liberation. We are funded by the dues of women, not corporations or their foundations.

This is a critical time to act — the FDA is reconsidering the well-established science about the safety of mifepristone to try to limit our access.

Louisiana v. FDA could threaten nationwide access to mifepristone, the medication used for abortion care.

If Louisiana wins, the national standard for accessing abortion pills could be rolled back, threatening access through telehealth and by mail and forcing unnecessary in-person requirements.

Mifepristone has been safely used for decades, and we cannot allow politicians and the courts to take away our right to control our own reproduction.

Stand up, fight back, and demand free and unrestricted access to abortion and birth control.

Black women were foundational in developing the Women’s Liberation Movement — as organizers, leaders, writers, and theorists. Many came out of the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, bringing years of organizing experience, strategy, and radical politics with them.

From Black liberation and Third World solidarity to welfare rights, reproductive justice, and abolition, Black women have shaped — and continue to shape — the politics and practice of women’s liberation. Their astute analysis on the intersection of race and s*x strengthens the movement for all women.

We’ll study this history in our fall class, Women’s Liberation: Where Do I Fit In?

Feminism’s Forgotten Fight Study Group

Universal child care is a winnable fight — but it’s not a new one. Feminists have fought for it since the 1960s, including as a central demand of the 1970 Women’s Strike for Equality.

Join NWL for a five-week study group on Feminism’s Forgotten Fight: The Unfinished Struggle for Work and Family by Kirsten Swinth.

In this guided study, we’ll look at how care work was pushed to the margins of the fight for women’s liberation, what that history can tell us about today’s fight, and how activists are working to win free, universal child care now.

Each session will include discussion of the assigned reading and a consciousness-raising on the topics discussed.
