Today, we pause to remember September 11 and honour the lives lost. Although it happened in another country, the impact was felt around the world- and we hold close the families and loved ones forever changed.

We're also deeply grateful for the first responders whose courage and service continue to inspire us.

At Big Brothers Bigs Sisters of Carleton-York, we recognize that days like today can feel heavy-especially for young people who are still learning how to process big emotions and events. Mentorship matters because a steady, caring adult can help a child feel supported, seen, and safe.

And as we recognize Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, we're reminded how powerful it is to show up consistently for young people- one relationship at a time.

Today we're sending strength and comfort to everyone in our community who may be carrying grief or memories.

Our Summer Community Art Project is officially complete!
Throughout the summer, we brought wooden art sticks everywhere we went and invited people to decorate one. We went to Big Iron Show N’ Shine, Canada Day celebrations, Dragon Boats, Big Bunch events, the Multicultural Festival, Old Home Week, and more.
Hundreds of little pieces of creativity from people across Carleton-York and beyond have now come together to make one big, colourful piece of community art.
Come by, see it in person, and if you decorated one this summer, see if you can find yours!
Thank you to everyone who added a little colour, creativity and personality to this project. We made this together.

Its been a busy summer, and a good one!
We’ve officially wrapped up another amazing summer of Thrive and Mini Mentors, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all the fun, friendships, learning, and memories made along the way!
Through Thrive, young people had the chance to connect, build confidence, try new things, get out into the community, and most importantly have fun!
Our Mini Mentors program brought together younger and older youth to build friendships, practice leadership and mentoring skills, and learn from one another.
Our Bring It series allowed young people from Woodstock to Hartland to showcase their talents with singing, dancing, comedy and more.

A HUGE thank you to Liz and Jesse for being such wonderful leaders this summer! Also thank you to our staff, volunteers, community partners, families, and of course all of the incredible young people who joined us.

Here are just a few of our favourite moments!
