Traffic Advisory

The Woodstock Police Service is aware of increased traffic and delays in the area of the Oxford Road 17 and Vansittart Avenue roundabout related to Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show.

With a significant number of visitors travelling to and from the event, motorists should expect heavier-than-normal traffic in the area.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes where possible, and follow all posted signs and traffic directions.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as traffic volumes remain high throughout the event.

A new look for the Woodstock Police Service.

You may notice something different on the streets of Woodstock.

WPS has introduced a new cruiser design, transitioning from our traditional blue vehicles to a primarily white exterior with updated graphics.

The refreshed design provides a clean, modern look while maintaining a strong and recognizable police presence in our community.

As new vehicles are added to the fleet, residents will begin seeing more of the updated design on patrol throughout Woodstock.

Today, Woodstock Police Service joined our Woodstock Fire Department colleagues and Oxford County Paramedic Services partners to mark 25 years since September 11, 2001 — a day that changed our world and reshaped how first responders answer the call.

On that morning, 343 firefighters, 72 police officers, and 8 EMTs and paramedics gave their lives helping others. Alongside them, nearly 2,600 civilians perished. Their sacrifice reminds us every day why we serve.

In tribute, Woodstock firefighters climbed the training tower 18 times today — mirroring the 110-storey height of the World Trade Center — honouring the steps their firefighter brothers and sisters took that day, many of whom never came back down.

25 years later, we remember. We honour. We never forget. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Weapons Threat at St. Mary’s Catholic High School Deemed Unfounded, Determined to be “Swatting”

Woodstock, ON – On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Woodstock Police Service received a report of a weapons threat at St. Mary’s Catholic High School, located at 431 Juliana Dr., Woodstock.

Officers responded in a manner consistent with the nature of the threat. Following an initial investigation, police determined the threat was unfounded and the incident was an example of “swatting” — a criminal hoax in which a false report is made to emergency services, typically to provoke a large-scale police response to a location where no genuine emergency exists.

The incident resulted in an increased police presence in the area as officers worked to ensure the safety of students and staff while the investigation was conducted.

The investigation into the source of the threat remains ongoing. Further information will be released if appropriate.

The Woodstock Police Service thanks the London District Catholic School Board for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation.

This Tuesday, students are back in school. Take the extra second, come to a complete stop, look carefully for children, cyclists and crossing guards, and proceed only when it’s safe.

Because slow isn’t stop.

There’s no “rolling stop” or “slow-and-go” option in Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act. At a stop sign, drivers are required to stop.

PROJECT IONIQ: TWO STOLEN MOTORCYCLES RECOVERED

As part of the ongoing Project IONIQ investigation, Woodstock Police Service Street Crimes Unit have charged a 35-year-old man following the ex*****on of a search warrant in London.

Police recovered:
• Two stolen motorcycles - one from Woodstock and one from London
• Various motorcycle parts

The investigation was led by WPS’s dedicated Auto Theft Investigator, a specialized position created to strengthen our ability to investigate complex vehicle thefts, identify crime trends and coordinate investigations across jurisdictions.

The accused faces several charges and was held for a bail hearing.

Project IONIQ remains ongoing as WPS continues working to identify and disrupt vehicle theft and related crime.

International Overdose Awareness Day

Yesterday, members of the Woodstock Police Service Community Services Unit and Mental Health Engagement and Response Team (MHEART) attended the International Overdose Awareness Day event at Museum Square in Woodstock.

The toxic drug crisis continues to impact individuals and families across Oxford County. Events like this bring community partners together, encourage important conversations around substance use, and help connect people with resources that can save lives.

WPS is proud to work alongside our community partners to support prevention, education, harm reduction and access to mental health and addiction supports.
