Shining Through is a non-profit organization that provides ABA/IBI therapy to children and their families affected by autism. That’s when Beecroft was born.

We say yes to children with autism having dreams! We say yes to families having hope for their loved ones with autism! Our Story:

Shining Through was founded in 1999 by 5 families, who recognized a demand for programs and services for children with Autism. Struggling to find the right care and education for their own children and having a goal of creating a centre of world-class quality - the Woodbridge campus was established. They began hiring highly specialized professionals to create one-on-one programs using the ABA intervention model, monitor progress, advise families, and champion the progression of all constructive interventions that would facilitate the education, growth, and development of their children. By 2008, the centre was so successful that it reached capacity, and another campus was urgently needed. Both campuses are in beautiful century homes; the story of the Dempsey Store (built by Joseph Sheppard II) is particularly fascinating. The newest addition to STC was a school-based program in partnership with Streetsville Academy where they focus on integration into regular classrooms. As for the 5 founding families - they are all still very much involved and committed to the mission of this centre.

Welcome to Sunnyside Beach!

This beach-themed sensory play scene was created by one of our learners, who not only designed the beach but gave it the perfect name: Sunnyside Beach

Sensory play offers a fun and engaging way for our learners to explore while incorporating Natural Environment Teaching (NET) into meaningful, play-based learning. Activities like this can support sensory exploration, language development, imaginative play, and learning through everyday experiences.

Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to play, explore, and let their imaginations take the lead!

You’re already part of it. 💛

Today, we’re joining nonprofits and charities across Canada for Imagine Canada’s “You’re Already Part of It” campaign.

Nonprofits are woven into everyday life in more ways than many of us realize. At Shining Through Centre, that looks like therapy sessions, parent support, social programs, community events, and the countless small moments that help children, youth, and families impacted by autism move forward.

Whether you’re a family, supporter, volunteer, donor, staff member, or community partner, you are already part of the impact.

We’re proud to stand alongside organizations across Canada helping build stronger, more connected communities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our 25th Annual Shining Through Gala: Mission Possible. 💛

It was such a special evening celebrating our learners, families, supporters, and 25 years of Shining Through Centre.

We’re incredibly grateful to every guest who attended, donated, bid in the auction, purchased raffle tickets, and helped make the night so meaningful.

A special thank you as well to our sponsors, community partners, and in-kind supporters. Your generosity helped bring the evening to life and continues to support the programs and services available to children, youth, and families impacted by autism.

We’re so thankful to have such an incredible community behind us. Here’s to 25 years of impact, and to everything still ahead. 💛
