First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba First Nations Health and Social Secretariat of Manitoba. Our initiatives are based on First Nations rights to self-determination.

Established in 2013 by the Chiefs-in-Assembly, FNHSSM was created to pursue tripartite collaboration toward a unified health system, guided by our treaty and inherent rights to promote culturally grounded, wholistic and community-based Health Care. Nanaandawewigamig seeks to support First Nations in Manitoba through collaborating on initiatives and strategies that promote and increase First Nation

s control, design and delivery of health services. Our purpose is to promote overall wellbeing of First Nations and individuals regardless of residency and to protect and incorporate First Nations traditional knowledge and wellness practices. Nanaandawewigamig works with the 63 First Nations, seven Tribal Councils, the independant First Nations and AMC, MKO, and SCO political organizations who entered into the Health Political Unity Accord in 2011. Our organization functions under the direction of the member of Chiefs-in-Assembly and its own board of directors.

Depression can touch every part of life, influencing mood, energy, motivation, thoughts and daily functioning. Despite how common it is, depression is often misunderstood, leaving many people feeling isolated or unsure of how to get help.

This free course offers an in-depth look at what depression really is, how it can appear in different ways, and the signs and symptoms to watch for in yourself or others. Participants will explore the various types of depression, learn practical strategies for managing symptoms, and discover helpful supports and resources for navigating challenging times.

This course empowers participants to better understand depression, reduce self-criticism and stigma, and create a personalized approach to nurturing their mental health and overall well-being.

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) is hiring an Anti-Racism Project Advisor.

This role is responsible for assisting in the operationalization of SCO’s Southern First Nations Anti-Racism Strategy and the development of a Health Ombudsperson Office.

The Project Advisor will conduct essential groundwork to facilitate the implementation of anti-First Nations racism practices within health care systems, translating findings into actionable steps, framework(s), and measurable outcomes.

This role will work to ensure that initiatives reflect the needs and perspectives of southern First Nations citizens/members.

Applications are now open for First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth aged 18–35.

1️⃣ This Senate initiative brings youth leaders together with senators to share their knowledge and contribute to discussions on issues affecting their communities.

2️⃣ First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth aged 18–35 from across Canada can apply.

3️⃣ Selected participants meet with senators, take part in committee proceedings and connect with other youth leaders.

4️⃣ Youth voices help inform the committee’s work on issues affecting First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities.
