Today June 18, MANSO and Manitoba’s newcomer-serving sector mark World Refugee Day at Central Park.

We are proud to be part of the national We’re Better Together campaign — and proud to bring that message home to Manitoba.

In Manitoba, we know: newcomers are neighbours, colleagues, and contributors. And we're !

Canadian soccer star Alphonso Davies was born in a refugee camp in Ghana and arrived in Canada at age five before becoming one of the country’s most recognized athletes ⚽

His story reflects the strength, talent, and resilience that newcomers bring to our communities.

Join us to celebrate World Refugee Day with a soccer scrimmage, face painting, and community activities for all ages!

World Refugee Day is coming soon — and it invites us to reflect on what it truly means to welcome people in Manitoba.

Not just policies or numbers, but people. Families. Stories of resilience, displacement, and the determination to build a new life here.

Manitoba has a proud history of welcoming newcomers. The question is how we continue to live up to that commitment today.

In the coming days, MANSO and our members will join hundreds of organizations across Canada in recognizing World Refugee Day and standing with newcomers. Stay tuned as we share how we’re .

During the National Week of Action for World Refugee Day, people across Canada are coming together to show their support for immigrants and refugees — and we invite you to join us.

Through the We’re Better Together campaign, over 200 organizations are working collectively to take action and amplify messages of welcome, inclusion, and solidarity.

Here in Canada, we are proud to be a country that welcomes refugees. We also believe in continuing to build a future where all families can thrive — and where our leaders support that vision.

We know we’re .

At our AGM on June 10, we expressed our sincere thanks to the outgoing members of MANSO’s Board of Directors.

Serving on a sector board is meaningful, ongoing work — requiring time, care, and commitment through meetings, governance, and advocacy for Manitoba’s settlement sector.

We are deeply grateful for your leadership, dedication, and service. Thank you for the many ways you supported this work and the communities we serve.

🌍 Beyond Borders – Toolkit for Countering Refugee Racism is here!

Last week we held the kick-off meeting to launch a new Manitoba-wide project helping communities counter misinformation, challenge racism toward refugees, and build stronger anti-racism capacity. It builds on the earlier Bread & Borders Toolkit.

Led by MANSO and Immigration Partnership Winnipeg, along with 10 partner organizations across Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Steinbach, Winkler, and Portage la Prairie.

We're so grateful to everyone who came together to get this work started! 🤝

From settlement and employment services to English for Work, Settlement Workers in Schools, and the HIPPY program for preschool families, EIS supports newcomers at every stage of building a life in southeastern Manitoba.

On June 20, they will honour the region’s newest Canadian citizens at their annual Citizenship Celebration at Summer in the City.

Steinbach showed up. 🌟

This week's visit to Steinbach was warm, welcoming, and a beautiful reminder of the committed people doing incredible newcomer-serving work outside the city — often with fewer resources and just as much heart.

Thank you to our hosts for opening your doors to us - RRC Polytech - Steinbach Campus and Eastman Immigrant Services. We left inspired.

Last week reminded us why we do this. 💙

Nearly 100 people came out for the MANSO Information & Networking Fair 2026 — from across the sector, across the province — and the conversations in that room were exactly what this community needs more of.

Thank you for showing up. See you next year.

MANSO is proud to support spaces that prioritize the wellbeing of settlement sector frontline workers. 🌿

As we recognize Mental Health Month, we invite our network to join this meaningful morning of connection, reflection, and wellness in nature at Kildonan Park.

Frontline work can be deeply rewarding, and demanding. Taking time to pause, breathe, and reconnect with community matters.

We hope to see you there! 💚 Because we’re
