Tucker was hit by a water truck a couple weeks ago in northern Manitoba and thankfully he survived but sadly, another dog did not.

He was being chased by 2 stray dogs and ran across the road. His kid was walking too and saw him laying there in the dirt. It was traumatic for everyone!

Thankfully, we were able to secure a helicopter and plane ride and get Tucker into Winnipeg wheee they drained 4.1L of fluid from his neck/shoulder. He has antibiotics, anti inflammatory meds, drainage tubes and daily bandage changes.

Thanks to all who made this possible!! He’s now able to rest comfortably and get the vet care that he deserves.

Tucker had a good night!

We need to rewrap his neck often to help that stretched skin reattach and heal properly. Our hope is that we can avoid surgery to remove the excess skin.

Your donations make it possible for us to provide this kind of emergency care to dozens of rez dogs from northern Manitoba every month. When many people give even $20, it helps us cover veterinary costs, supplies, transportation, and the day to day care these dogs need at our shelter.

Thank you to everyone who loves and supports this work. We are incredibly grateful to have such an amazing community standing beside Tucker and so many other dogs in need.

Never stop believing that positive change is possible. Keep fighting for the rez dogs. Keep fighting for safer, healthier communities.

Run to the rescue with love, and peace will follow. 💖

Tucker is home from the emergency vet and I am so happy!!! He was ran over by a water truck 2 weeks ago way up in northern Manitoba and the vets at removed 4.1L of fluid from his neck. Thankfully not a big infection, just extremely loose skin and tones of fluid flushing out.

I can’t even imagine not giving these beautiful rez dogs a chance at getting vet care. Our province is suffering so much. These smooches remind me that we are here still fighting as hard as we can, without those in power seeing us for truly how hard we are trying.

Rez dogs are not the problem. The lack of veterinary resources, responsible ownership and proactive leaders is the problem.

Thank you to all who donated towards Tucker’s urgent care. We appreciate you all so much! 💖

Tucker took a helicopter ride across the lake and then an airplane into Winnipeg. What a long journey for him!

He was hit by a water truck while being chased by a stray dog. Sadly, he ended up with a massive sac of fluid on his neck!!!

He spent the night where he had 4.1L of fluid drained from his neck! He’s at our shelter recovering and we are so grateful to everyone who donated and shared! We appreciate you so much! 💖

URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED

This poor dog was ran over and he urgently needs help. He’s been suffering in the heat and a group of concerned community members are doing all they can to get him safe in a kennel but he’s so scared right now!

This sweet boy has to cross the lake by helicopter and then take a flight into Winnipeg from his remote community in northern Manitoba!!

Can you help us save this beautiful rez dog?? Even $20 really makes a difference! E-transfers/paypal donations can be sent to [email protected] with “injured dog” in the message.

We will keep everyone up to date when he’s secured and on his way to Winnipeg!

Some days are harder than others. Some days I feel so defeated. We are truly trying our best to help these beautiful rez dogs and I often wonder why more don’t want to see this succeed…

I am always so worried about how to pay the enormous bills Save A Dog Network has each month, without burning out and giving up.

It’s a delicate balance of pushing for change and waiting for action but I have to have enormous hope that all this hard work we are doing, is not for nothing.

Make the time for us trying to change the animal welfare world. Donate, volunteer, transport, spread the word or have the meeting you say you were going to. Invest in your community. Invest in the future for all of us. Please consider donating even $20.

E-transfers/PayPal donations can be sent to [email protected] with “SADN” in the message.

More sweet babies arrived a few nights ago from The Pas area last night. It’s a neverending flow of unwanted dogs needing to come in. There’s such a lack of veterinary care in the north, which clogs up alot of the resources in Winnipeg and beyond the province.

Can anyone help sponsor a pup for $25 each? It really helps us continue this important work and keep our shelter open! E-transfers/PayPal donations can be sent to [email protected] with “8 pups” in the message.

Big thanks to everyone involved with keeping them safe, especially the amazing crew at The Pas and Area Animal Shelter! If you are looking for a puppy to adopt, these 8 will be available via our friends at Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter in the coming weeks. 🥰

When people live in impossible conditions for too long, the brain does something powerful to survive…it starts treating crisis like normal life. It’s happening to myself too.

We stop reacting to the urgency of dog shoots.
We stop reacting the abhorrent injuries and sickness.
We expect dog bites and suffering everyday.

Not because we don’t care, but because living in constant stress changes what feels normal.

But the truth is…it’s not normal. We are creating more of a mess for normalizing it. When suffering becomes everyday life, it can be hard to imagine something different.

We need to keep reminding ourselves and each other, this is not just “how it is.” Things can change but you have to show up, even when it hurts so badly. We are suffering so deeply, and that is exactly why change cannot wait any longer.
