We’re excited to launch "Manitoba’s Research Excellence", a new video series featuring conversations with some of Manitoba’s leading researchers.

Our first guest is Warren Clarke, Assistant Professor at University of Manitoba.
In his upcoming interview, we discuss:
- The complex role competition plays within the academic research system
- The importance of community-focused research approaches
- The distinct histories and characteristics of Black communities across Canada and the Caribbean

Warren also shares insights from his own research and reflects on how scholarship can better connect with communities and lived experiences.

Warren's next book, "Still Invisible", is now available for pre-order through Wilfrid Laurier University Press. https://www.wlupress.wlu.ca/Books/S/Still-Invisible

Stay tuned for the upcoming full interview as part of Manitoba’s Research Excellence.

Today on Clinical Trials Day, hosted by ACRP - Association of Clinical Research Professionals, we recognize the researchers, coordinators, healthcare professionals, and patient partners working to advance clinical research across Manitoba.

We are proud to work alongside researchers, the health system and the Manitoba government to strengthen and grow the clinical trials ecosystem through our involvement in national initiatives such as the Clinical Research Workforce Strategy and CanReview, participation in the Manitoba government’s Clinical Trials Working Group, collaboration with the Manitoba Clinical Trials Lead, and by providing harmonized review and approval through RITHIM.

Through strategic partnerships and investments, we remain committed to supporting research that improves health outcomes, strengthens capacity, and helps bring innovative treatments and discoveries closer to Manitobans

Research Manitoba Program Officers attended the CARA annual conference for research administrators in Canada this week

Our Program Officer, Ashley King, shares her reflections of the event:
"The CARA conference is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who work in a similar environment. This allows us to connect and share best practices for our roles, and feel a strong sense of community with one another! This connection is my favourite part of attending these events as it helps you feel like you are not alone in your struggles, and can give you great perspective. I always feel like I learn so much from the conference and can implement this knowledge in my role."

Staff were able to meet and communicate with research professionals across the country, including Manitoba colleagues featured in the photo below.

On International Nurses Day, we recognize and celebrate the vital role nurses play across both the healthcare and research communities.

At Research Manitoba, we are proud to support Manitoba nursing research through investments including the Manitoba Indigenous Research Nursing Chair, collaboration events, studentships, and new investigator grants.

Today, staff from RITHIM and Research Manitoba had the opportunity to attend the Helen Glass Symposium, where we connected with nursing researchers, students, educators, and practitioners advancing innovation in nursing.

The conversations and work being led across the field continue to demonstrate the essential role nursing research plays in improving health outcomes, strengthening systems, and supporting communities across Manitoba.

We look forward to supporting many more nursing research projects and collaborations in the years ahead.

Our Impact and Policy Officer, Yasmin Iman, attended the World Conference on Research Integrity last week.
She has this to share:

"Engaging with a diverse community of researchers, administrators, and thought leaders fostered meaningful dialogue and valuable connections. The conference focus on Indigenous ways of being, Artificial Intelligence, and Research Security: Shaping the Future of Research Integrity, prompted thoughtful discussions on how diverse knowledge systems, emerging technologies, and evolving security challenges can collectively strengthen ethical and responsible research. The open exchange of ideas and shared commitment to advancing research integrity made the experience both inspiring and memorable!"
