We were honoured to welcome Minister Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, to Asihcikan, an Indigenous-led partnership between Harvest Manitoba and Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre.

During her visit, Minister Alty announced the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit, highlighting the Government of Canada’s commitment to helping families access the food and essentials they need.

The announcement also provided an opportunity to showcase the progress of Asihcikan, a community hub that will bring together food programs, supports, services, gathering spaces, and a food bank.

Thank you to Minister Alty for taking the time to learn more about this important partnership and the positive impact Asihcikan will have for our community!

Every contribution creates a ripple effect that reaches far beyond a single meal. When you give, you're helping stock shelves and ensure neighbours across the province can access support when they need it most. Together, we're creating a healthier future for all where no Manitoban goes hungry.

Your generosity helps turn compassion into action one gift at a time.🌾

If you’re able, please consider donating today at harvestmanitoba.ca!

Throughout June, we honour the stories, knowledge, resilience, and achievements of Indigenous Peoples across Manitoba and Canada.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to deepen our understanding, celebrate diverse cultures, and recognize the lasting impact of Indigenous communities on the places we call home.

By learning from the past and supporting one another in the present, we can help build a more inclusive future for everyone.
