A few weeks ago, The Métis Child, Family and Community Services Summer Celebration was held at Faraday School. We had amazing weather and it was a day full of laughter, fun, and community!

Families came together to enjoy an afternoon packed with activities, including visits from our local firefighters, the Ghostbusters, face painting, photo booths, bouncy castles, Métis jigging performances, and a free lunch for everyone in attendance.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible community partners and sponsors for helping make this event such a memorable experience. Your generosity and commitment to our families helped create a welcoming space where children could play, parents could connect, and our community could celebrate together.

Today, we celebrate and honour all fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, uncles, and father figures who play an important role in the lives of children and families.

Fathers and father figures provide guidance, support, encouragement, and love, helping children build confidence and a sense of belonging. Their presence and influence help shape future generations and strengthen families and communities.

We recognize and appreciate the many ways fathers and father figures contribute to the well-being of children, youth, and families every day. To all the dads and father figures in our communities—thank you for your commitment and the positive impact you make in the lives of those around you.

This Sunday on June 21st, we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day and the rich cultures, histories, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

As a Métis-led organization, Métis Child, Family and Community Services recognizes the strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of Indigenous Peoples and communities. We honour the knowledge of our Elders and Knowledge Keepers, the leadership of our communities, and the generations who have worked to preserve and revitalize our cultures and traditions.

Earlier this month, we proudly raised the Pride flag at our office in recognition of Pride Month and our ongoing commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces for everyone.

At Métis Child, Family and Community Services, we believe every child, youth, family member, caregiver, and employee deserves to be respected, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Diversity strengthens our communities, and inclusion helps ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging.

As we raise the Pride flag, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and fostering environments where all people can thrive free from discrimination and prejudice.

Looking for a way to make a real difference in the lives of Métis children and families?

MCFCS is seeking Volunteer Drivers to help transport children to family visits, therapy, and other essential appointments. We offer mileage reimbursement for kilometers driven from home and back! We currently have opportunities in Winnipeg, Interlake, and Eastman areas

About the Role

As a Volunteer Driver, you will:
✔ Transport children to scheduled visits and appointments
✔ Have free time for personal errands while waiting for pick-up time
✔ Communicate with children and families in a respectful manner
✔ Work under the direction of the Transportation Coordinator

What You Need:

🚘 A reliable vehicle with a back seat and the required seat belts
📜 Satisfactory results from:

Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) – fee waived if applying through RCMP
Child Abuse Registry Check
Prior Contact Check
Flexibility to accommodate changing schedules
A valid Manitoba driver’s license

We would like to take a moment to inform our circles about Moose Hide Campaign Day.

On May 14th, 2026, Métis Child, Family and Community Services will stand in solidarity with communities across Canada to end violence against women, children, and all those along the gender spectrum.

The Moose Hide Campaign began as a grassroots movement grounded in Indigenous ceremony and teachings, calling on men and boys to take a stand against gender-based and domestic violence. Today, it continues to grow as a powerful symbol of commitment, accountability, and healing.

We encourage everyone to reflect and take action. Whether that’s wearing a moose hide pin, having meaningful conversations, or supporting those affected by violence. Together, we can create safer communities rooted in respect and care.

Happy Mother's Day!

We would like to celebrate the strength, love, and guidance of mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and all those who take on mothering roles in our lives.

In Métis culture, caregiving extends beyond the immediate family and is rooted in kinship, community, and shared responsibility. Today, we recognize the women who nurture, protect, teach, and uplift our children and families every day.

We also hold space for those who may find this day difficult, and we honour all journeys of motherhood with care and respect. Thank you for the love you give and the generations you continue to shape ❤

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

At MCFCS, we recognize that mental wellness is deeply connected to culture, community, and a sense of belonging. For Métis children, youth, and families, healing is collective in that it's rooted in identity, relationships, and trust.

This month, we encourage everyone to take time to check in. Whether that mean with yourself, your loved ones, or your circles. Every step toward wellness matters. Let’s continue to create safe, supportive spaces where our children and families can thrive - mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to your case worker. You are not alone.

Today, on Red Dress Day, we honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People.

Across our communities, red dresses are displayed as powerful reminders of those who should still be here. Our daughters, mothers, aunties, sisters, and friends whose absence is deeply felt.

At Métis Child, Family and Community Services, we stand with families, survivors, and communities in remembering and advocating. We acknowledge the ongoing impacts of colonial systems and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the safety, dignity, and well-being of Métis women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.

We encourage everyone to take time today to reflect, learn, and listen. We honour those we have lost by continuing to call for justice and systemic change.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

At Métis Child, Family and Community Services, we believe every child deserves to grow up safe, supported, and surrounded by love. Child Abuse Prevention Month is a time to raise awareness, strengthen our communities, and reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect children and youth.

Prevention starts with connection. By supporting families, uplifting caregivers, and embracing culture, we can create environments where children feel valued, heard, and safe. Together, we can break cycles of harm and build brighter futures rooted in care, respect, and community.
