On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honor the resilience and strength of our Red River Métis survivors, their families, and all Indigenous peoples impacted by the residential school system.
We acknowledge the pain and loss endured by our ancestors and commit to amplifying their voices.
Let’s continue to educate ourselves, support healing, and strive for a future of understanding and respect.

Welcome to Our Instagram Page!

We’re so glad you’re here! Our mission, rooted in the work of the Manitoba Métis Federation, is to support Red River Métis citizens, especially those affected by the Sixties Scoop, Residential Schools, and Day Schools.

At the SSRS Dept, we provide a warm space for survivors to connect, share their experiences, and find support. If you or someone you know is a Red River Métis survivor, please reach out—we're here for you.

We offer programs like KTT (Kitchen Table Talk), VTC (Virtual Talking Circles), and Mental Health Support, all tailored to meet the unique needs of our community. We’re also working on a meaningful research project, “Pekeywaytahihnan Nutr Zanfaan Leur Zisprii” (We are bringing our children’s spirits home), to gather information about missing Red River Métis children.

As we honor our Red River Métis Survivors year-round, we look forward to the National Day of Truth & Reconciliation.

Thank you for being part of our journey toward healing and support! Stay tuned for updates!

Today marks another historical day in Manitoba. Our government has tabled legislation to make September 30th, the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, a provincial statutory holiday.

This legislation directly responds to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action No. 80.

Legislating September 30th as a general holiday will allow Manitobans to participate in commemorative events across our province that promotes reflection and healing and honours residential school survivors, their families and communities.

This proposed legislation was developed in consultation with Indigenous leaders, residential school survivors and stakeholders throughout Manitoba.
