A team of outreach workers based out of the Salvation Army's Centre of Hope are helping people find stable housing. But the move out of an encampment and into permanent housing is a process that can take two or three months.

Today is National Doughnut Day! 🍩❤️

Every year on the first Friday of June, The Salvation Army commemorates the day to honour the brave work of the organization’s “Donut Lassies,” who served snacks to soldiers on the front lines during the First World War.

The Donut Lassies famously made fresh doughnuts for the troops in the soldier’s helmets by using simple ingredients, boosting their morale.

As we enjoy a doughnut today, we also recognize the importance of giving hope to others whether that is through volunteering, supporting our communities, checking in on a neighbour, or lending a helping hand to someone in need.
