We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Richard Walls.

Richard was an invaluable community builder, mentor and advocate whose impact reached far beyond his many years of service as Executive Director of Red Road Lodge. His dedication to supporting people, strengthening community and creating spaces of belonging touched countless lives.

A four-day sacred fire has been lit on the East side of Red Road Lodge, which can be accessed through the gate facing Logan Ave. All are welcome to spend time at the fire in memorial and celebration of Richard's life. The last log will be placed around 2:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon and the fire will extinguish naturally.

Here for the community. ❤️ When a Winnipeg neighbourhood faced multiple days without power The Salvation Army EDS team were able to support our neighbours in need by serving food and providing care.

Annual event encourages learning and healing.

We invite you to join us September 19 for the annual Chāpān Games and Teachings in honour of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

It is a FREE family friendly event focused on the Chāpān Circle of Elders healing through the medicine of laughter and having fun. All are welcome to join.

We ask that attendees bring a pair of shoes to fit a child in kindergarten to grade 8. The shoes will be displayed during the event and then donated to a school up north.

We are honoured to have been able to join the 2026 Celebration of Culture this past weekend in partnership with Indigenous Pathways 🧡🪶

The event was a meaningful opportunity for our staff to listen, learn and deepen our understanding of Indigenous teachings through beading, drumming and meaningful conversations about building positive relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples.

As we continue our journey in the spirit of reconciliation, we are grateful for opportunities to learn, reflect and show respect for the original caretakers of the land, while working toward stronger and more meaningful relationships.

Thank you to the organizers, Indigenous Pathways, and everyone who helped make this incredible event possible. We are grateful to have been part of such a meaningful celebration of culture, community and connection. 🧡

This week we harvested sage and watered our medicine garden. These plants will be cared for and prepared for use in our programming and shared with participants as part of their connection to the land and traditional plant knowledge. We’re grateful for the opportunity to grow, harvest and learn from these medicines together. 🌱💚

Thank you to the Hill family for coming to the Winnipeg Centre of Hope and handing out hotdogs, snap peas, chips and water to the community for lunch ❤️
