ANISHINAABE IDOL IS BACK: IS THIS YOUR YEAR TO TAKE THE STAGE? 🎤

The Anishinaabe Idol singing competition returns for the 5th Annual Anishinaabe Days Celebration, giving First Nation community members the opportunity to step into the spotlight and share their voice with the community.

Whether you sing country, pop, R&B, gospel, hip-hop, acoustic, or anything in between, this is your chance to showcase your talent on stage at one of Treaty One’s biggest cultural celebrations of the year.

Eligibility: Open to First Nation community members of all ages

Note: Professional recording artists are not eligible

Submit a video of your performance by Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM CST through Treaty One’s Facebook or Instagram Messenger.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
The top 10 submissions will be selected to perform live at Anishinaabe Days. and contacted at a later date.

3RD ANNUAL TREATY ONE AWARDS GALA: CELEBRATING OUR PEOPLE, OUR STORIES, AND OUR LEGACY 🥂🎉

Treaty One Nations would like to thank everyone who joined us for the 3rd Annual Treaty One Awards Gala.

It was a great evening spent recognizing leaders, Knowledge Keepers, youth, artists, advocates, and the original signatories whose contributions continue to shape Treaty One Nations.

We thank Treaty One Nations Chairperson Chief Gordon BlueSky, of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Grand Chief Kyra Wilson of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, and Grand Chief Jerry Daniels of the Southern Chiefs' Organization for joining us and providing opening remarks.

A special thank you goes to our MC, Lisa Meeches, for helping guide the evening and keep the program moving in a meaningful way. We also thank the leadership of Treaty One for presenting this year’s awards and helping honour each recipient, their families, and the stories shared throughout the evening.

STATEMENT FROM TREATY ONE NATIONS

Treaty One Nations has issued a statement condemning recent remarks made in the Manitoba Legislature referring to Gerald Stanley as a “victim” during debate surrounding the killing of Colten Boushie.

“At a time when governments across this country continue to speak about reconciliation, comments like these are unacceptable in 2026,” said Chief Gordon BlueSky, Treaty One Nations Chairperson.

Treaty One Nations stands with the Boushie family, Red Pheasant Cree Nation, and all First Nation families continuing to call for dignity, fairness, and justice.

Celebrate excellence at the 3rd Annual Treaty One Awards Gala, honouring leaders and changemakers across our Nations.

Treaty One Nations was honoured to stand witness as Sagkeeng First Nation signed their official Treaty Land Entitlement Agreement with the Government of Canada.

Yesterday’s ceremony marked an important milestone in the ongoing recognition and fulfilment of Treaty obligations under Treaty No. 1. Signed by Chief E.J. Fontaine and the Honourable Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, this agreement represents years of work, advocacy, and commitment by Sagkeeng leadership, Elders, and community members.

This day is significant because it is about honouring promises that were made. It is about honouring the lands we all call home. Most of all, it is about respect and a collective understanding between our Nations and Treaty Partners.

The agreement includes a $100 million settlement and the option to add additional lands to reserve, helping support Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation’s continued growth and future generations. Today also served as a reflection of the strength, resilience, and determination that brought this historic moment forward.

Treaty One Nations raises our hands to everyone whose work, leadership, and commitment helped bring this agreement to life. Congratulations to Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation on this important achievement!

WALKING TOGETHER TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN 🧡

Today, Treaty One Nations joined community members, partners, and supporters from across Winnipeg for the Moose Hide Campaign Walk to End Violence Against Women and Children, walking together from the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to True North Square in solidarity and support of safer communities for women, children, and future generations.

Despite the weather, people came together to walk in honour of women, children, families, survivors, and future generations — standing united in the shared commitment to help end gender-based violence.

We want to thank everyone who came out and walked alongside us today, as well as the organizers and performers who dedicated their time and energy to making this important gathering possible. Your presence, voices, and support helped create a meaningful day of awareness, reflection, and unity.

Together, we continue to walk for awareness, healing, accountability, and change.
