Happy National Snail Day! 🐌

Donna spotted this little snail recently and today seemed like the perfect day to share it!

Fun fact: Some snails are real “super sleepers”, certain species can hibernate and sleep for up to three years!

If you’re ever out in a garden or park, take a moment to look closely for snails. And if you need to move one off a path, gently encourage it to retract into its shell first before carefully relocating it, they’re more fragile than they look.

A little reminder to slow down and appreciate the small things today.

Wrapping up VON Week 2026 | May 17–23, 2026
Every year, VON week provides an opportunity for VON to celebrate their wonderful staff and volunteers, and highlight the meaningful impact they make in the community.

At Community Living Windsor, we are proud to celebrate the incredible volunteers who dedicate their time and energy through VON Canada. Today we’re recognizing just a few of the amazing people supported by CLW who make a meaningful difference through Meals on Wheels and VON volunteer services:

Maria, picture 1 (Volunteering since September 2023)
Maria supports meal delivery as part of the Meals on Wheels team, helping ensure community members receive nutritious meals with care and consistency.

Ashleigh, picture 2 & 3 (Volunteering since 2023)
Ashleigh has been volunteering at the VON Canada Adult Day Program for about 3 years. She plays an important role in supporting the lunch service by setting up table settings, serving drinks to attendees, and helping with dishwashing throughout the day. After meals, Ashleigh helps reset the space by clearing tables and counters, disinfecting surfaces, and sweeping the kitchen and dining room. She takes great pride in her work and enjoys seeing the happy faces of everyone she supports.

Matthew, not pictured (Volunteering since May 2022)
Matthew continues to make a meaningful impact through his ongoing volunteer service with Meals on Wheels.

Janet, picture 4 ( Volunteering since July 2018)
Janet has been volunteering for over 5 years as a Meals on Wheels server, organizing, sorting, and preparing meals based on dietary needs, then delivering them into the community.

Thank you to all of you for your dedication and care.

Roll Up Your Sleeve, Help Save Lives.

Some members of the Community Living Windsor team visited the Canadian Blood Service Plasma Clinic on Howard Avenue yesterday to help make a difference through plasma donation. There is currently a global plasma shortage, and the need for donors continues to grow. Plasma helps treat a number of illnesses and injuries, including nervous system disorders, bleeding disorders, rare blood disorders, organ transplant complications, and much more.

A special shoutout to Lisa, a CLW employee and frequent donor, who achieved one of the fastest donation times for the month of May at the clinic! Every donation has the power to help save and improve lives. Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to support this important cause.

Richard and Harvey experienced all that Nashville has to offer on their recent trip.
From visiting the iconic Grand Ole Opry to exploring the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, their vacation was filled with music, sightseeing, new experiences, and plenty of great moments.
They toured the city, checked out the beautiful homes of country music superstars, enjoyed a fun stop at the Aquarium Restaurant, and tried plenty of new foods along the way!
