From September 14 to 18, we’re recognizing Kinship & Alternate Care Awareness Week.

Kin help preserve and strengthen the connections to family, culture and community that shape a child or youth’s identity and sense of belonging. Their support can help families stay together and provide care when a child or youth cannot safely remain at home.

This week, we celebrate the relatives, extended family and community members who offer this care, connection and support.

The first day of school is a special moment worth celebrating—but before you hit “post,” take a second look at what your photo may be revealing. 🤳🍎✏️

The information you share publicly can be pieced together to learn more about your family, your home, and your routines. That doesn't mean you shouldn't share those special moments—just be intentional about what you share, who can see it, and what information is visible in the background. 📸
