At FRS, we celebrate the care, love, and work of caregivers. We are honoured to walk with them for a period of time. We know that there is much to do in Canada to support caregivers. The Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence has released a report called Caring In Canada, 2026. 1 in 4 people in Canada are unpaid family members or friends, providing support for someone who needs care due to physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities, medical, or mental health conditions. Many caregivers are supporting more than one person in their family. Read the report and urge your Member of Parliament to support the proposed caregiving strategies.

Caring in Canada profiles new data collected through the National Caregiving Survey, providing new insights into the experiences of caregivers and care providers.

🏒 Connecting through hockey and community spirit 🥅

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Tuesday Night Hockey Crew at the Capri Arena for their incredible donation of over $3,000.00 to Family Respite Services. 💙

This recreational group has been hitting the ice together just for fun for over 20 years. Over the decades, it is clear that their shared love for hockey and a deep sense of community spirit has created a truly special bond among the players.

We are incredibly grateful that they chose to channel that community spirit our way. This generous gift will directly support local children with disabilities and their families by providing essential respite care.

Thank you to the entire Tuesday Night Hockey Crew. Your friendship and your generosity are making a meaningful difference in our community. 🙌✨

🌟 Deeply Grateful to The May Court Club of Windsor! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to announce that Family Respite Services has been selected as a grant recipient for this year’s The May Court Club of Windsor Disbursements! 🎉🎈

The May Court Club reached an incredible milestone, distributing a massive total of $140,000 💰✨ dedicated to supporting children and youth in Windsor and Essex County this year 🍁🏘️.

We are immensely proud to stand alongside so many impactful community partners doing such vital work! 🤝❤️Our specific $5,000 grant 💵 the will help get us closer to making "The Our Backyard Project" (The OB) a reality 🌳🏡.

Thank you to the incredible May Court Club of Windsor volunteers 🙌, and everyone in our amazing community who made this historic funding year possible! 💙✨

💖 Celebrating Our Amazing Moms! 💖

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our Moms Appreciation Night recently (in the lead up to Mother's Day), and it was a truly magical evening! Family Respite Services brought nearly 20 incredible moms to the St. Clair College Spa for a well-deserved night of pampering, relaxation, and connection. ✨💅

Our moms were treated to complimentary, professional manicure and pedicure treatments. A massive thank you to the incredibly talented students in the St. Clair College Esthetician Program (thank you Program Directors Deborah and Janice) for making our moms feel so special and spoiled! 🌸

This beautiful night would not have been possible without our amazing community partners. St. Clair College as a whole was a true partner in supporting this event from start to finish. 🏫🤝

Our hearts (and stomachs!) were also completely full thanks to the delicious food catered by Hammoudi's, and the stunningly sweet cupcakes for dessert from Bee's Sweet Shack. 🍲🧁

To our moms: you do so much every single day, and we hope this night brought you a little bit of the joy and relaxation you constantly give to others.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate them along with FRS Staff (Mel, Alyssa, Sam, Carol and Paola) who donated their time and talents to make this evening very special! 💕
