How easy is it to navigate your local community? For many, barriers exist where they shouldn't. That’s why we created the Community Accessibility Directory as part of our NAAW 2026 programming.

Our goal is simple: centralize accessibility information so no one has to guess whether a space or service is accessible to them.

We are proud to share that our Recreation Therapist, Julie Jones, recently presented at the Therapeutic Recreation Ontario Conference in Niagara Falls.

Julie showcased our innovative Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) program, sharing with professionals from across the province how BCI technology works, how to develop a successful program, and the meaningful impact it has had on the children and families we serve, as well as a live demonstration.

Through BCI technology, children can use the power of their thoughts to interact with switch-adapted toys, play video games, watch YouTube videos, control a robotic ball, and much more.

These opportunities help foster independence, choice, control, and inclusive participation in recreation and leisure activities in exciting new ways.

We are proud to be leaders in bringing innovative technologies to the children and families in our community and grateful for opportunities to share our experiences with colleagues across the province.

Thank you to representatives from Highstar Healthcare for visiting JMCC and showing our team the latest in patient handling slings.

It was a great opportunity for staff to learn more about sling options, features and fit, and how the right equipment can support safe, comfortable transfers for clients and families.

We appreciate High Star Healthcare taking the time to share their knowledge with our team!

🌸🌿 Gardening Together at JMCC! 🌿🌸

JMCC clients and their caregivers are invited to join us for a fun outdoor gardening activity on Friday, June 26 from 3–4 p.m. at the JMCC Playground.

Children and parents will plant flowers in pots, learn simple gardening skills and enjoy some time together outside. Each family will get to take home their planted pot!

This event is open to JMCC clients and their caregivers, ages 0–21.
