My suggestion for the Month of October is City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert

Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance. Her affluent parents send her to Manhattan to live with her Aunt Peg, who owns a flamboyant, crumbling midtown theater called the Lily Playhouse. I loved this book. It was one of the most entertaining books.

For the month of September I am recommending The Keepers of the House by Shirley Ann Grau
I wanted something to listen to on Audible and this was offered as part of my membership. I listened to it in 2 days. Couldn’t stop. Didn’t want to stop.

Good reads gives this book 4/5 stars.

My first recommendation for the month of August is The Pecan Man.
In the summer of 1976, recently widowed and childless, Ora Lee Beckworth hires a homeless old black man to mow her lawn.
