Windsor City FC is excited to be part of the Sandwich Town World Cup Watch Party on June 12 at the Dominion House, and we want to see our players, families, supporters, and soccer fans there!

Pont Gordie-Howe : sans date d’ouverture, « l’enthousiasme se transforme en frustration »

« S’il faut attendre encore quelques mois jusqu’à ce que le climat [commercial avec les États-Unis] s’améliore et que nous obtenions un accord avantageux pour notre pays, ça me convient », affirme le maire de Windsor.

L’impatience augmente chez les citoyens de Windsor et les gens d’affaires, qui attendent depuis plus de 20 ans l’arrivée du pont Gordie-Howe, troisième lien routier entre la ville ontarienne et celle de Détroit, au Michigan.

À 46 mètres au-dessus de la rivière Détroit, la structure de 2,5 kilomètres de longueur est pleinement érigée, les pylônes ont disparu, mais sa date d’ouverture demeure inconnue.

L’enthousiasme, pour plusieurs personnes, se transforme en frustration, déplore le directeur de la Zone d’amélioration commerciale (ZAC) du quartier Sandwich, Stephen Hargreaves.

Nous passons à côté du pont chaque jour [...]. C’est une infrastructure de calibre international qui, d’un point de vue architectural, est impressionnante et qui changerait grandement les relations entre ceux qui vivent et travaillent dans la région de Détroit et à Windsor-Essex, poursuit-il.
