Mealtimes are a big part of family life, and there are lots of ways to help little ones build a positive relationship with food as they grow.

Our next Feeding Our Littles session gives caregivers practical ideas and strategies to make introducing foods and navigating mealtimes feel a little easier.

Tuesday, September 15
5:00–7:00 PM
At the CDC
For caregivers of children ages 1–5

We’ll explore ways to:
• Introduce new foods without pressure
• Respond when your child says “no” to a meal
• Support children who have a small selection of favourite foods

Interested, but September 15 doesn’t work for your family? Fill out our Family Programs Interest Form anyway! Let us know you’re interested in Feeding Our Littles, and your availability can help us plan future sessions.

September is FASD Awareness Month, and one week from today our community will come together for Steps in Red — the FASD Awareness Day Walk.

On Wednesday, September 9th, join us at Boitanio Park as we walk to raise awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and show support for individuals and families impacted by FASD.

September 9 | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Boitanio Park

Along the way:
• $200-value prize for the participant completing the most course laps with their punch card
• Mocktail booth for participants
• Fruit station midway

Red shoes are a fun way to take part in Steps in Red, but they’re definitely not required — wear something red if you can, or simply come as you are and walk with us.

One week to go. Mark September 9th and help us bring more awareness to FASD in our community.

As our final Summer Pop-Up Event comes to a close at Scout Island, the Cariboo Chilcotin Child Development Centre and Foundry Cariboo Chilcotin want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us throughout the summer! 🌈

We loved seeing so many children, youth, families and community members come out to play, create, cool off, connect and have some fun with us. From face painting and button making to games, water play and lots of smiles — you made these events so much fun!

🍦🥤 A very special thank you to The Neighbourhood Ice Cream Shoppe for helping make our pop-ups extra sweet with some delicious treats. We truly appreciate your support!

And, of course, a big thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped make each event happen. 💕

Our Summer Pop-Ups may be finished for the year, but we’re so grateful for the memories, laughs and connections we made along the way.

Thank you, for spending part of your summer with us! Keep an eye on our website for what we have coming up next☀️💦🌈

The CDC signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 2024 to give our children the best start in life. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write, the Library gives children access to age appropriate books with monthly mail outs to their homes.

While our hearts are incredibly sad today, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children.

Thank you for supporting our work and Dolly’s legacy.

Two programs, two different ways to enjoy some time together at the CDC this week.

For families with children ages 0–6, Early Years is back Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26 from 10:30–11:30 AM. We’re nearing the end of our August Under the Sea theme, with ocean-inspired sensory experiences, movement, crafts, songs, and imaginative play to explore together.

Later Tuesday, Mom’s Connection offers moms and babies ages 0–1 a change of pace from 1:30–3:30 PM. Come spend the afternoon with your baby, enjoy some conversation, and meet other moms in a relaxed setting.
