The bi-annual clothing swap is back 🙌🏼 thanks to our friends at Thriftbucket and NEXT GENeral - Mercantile + Refillery.

Fall is coming and it’s the perfect time to go through your threads, and donate the things taking up space. So don’t forget to mark your calendars because it’s going to be an amazing day!

Details:
🗓️ Sunday, September 13th
⏰ 10:00am - 2:00pm
đź“Ť56 & 66 Third Ave N (In the parking lot in front of Thriftbucket and NEXT GENeral - Mercantile + Refillery)

All items are free to take, there is no charge for clothing. Donations are how this event is run: so you’re welcome to bring ahead of time, even if you aren’t coming, or the day of.

But please remember:
❌ no dirty clothes, please launder them before bringing
❌no rips, tears or stains, everything should be in wearable condition
❌ no undergarments, these items cannot be accepted

Thriftbucket or NEXT GENeral - Mercantile + Refillery will be accepting donations beforehand.

During the event, everything will be set up outside on racks and tables, and hangers will be available. The event is rain or shine!

And again, everything is FREE!

On a recent drive south, it was hard not to think about the long lasting impacts our province will continue to experience due to the loss of forest cover as a result of another summer of massive wildfires. This one alone near Clinton is estimated at 166,117 hectares.
Our waterways rely on forests and land-based ecosystems and plants for filtration, soil health and stability, fish habitat and so much more around water quality and temperature.
Our own area continues to see impacts caused by wildfires in watersheds like increased nutrient loading of lakes and streams, siltation, flooding and higher water temperatures.
We do not know exactly all the impacts we will face to our aquifers or surface waters but we do know how we can help: conserve water where you can to ensure a sustainable water source for our community, our many important neighbours like salmon and other species, the ecosystems we all rely on, and future generations. 💧❤️🌲

For folks needing a bike, wanting to donate a bike or seeking some help ensuring their bike is ready to roll rather than gathering dust or heading for the dump, come see Mary Mayette and her Bikes for All program at the Williams Lake Farmers' Market this afternoon or evening.
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 2-7 pm
Come enjoy local food, shopping and music and see if Mary has what you need, can help with your bike or drop off a bike gathering dust in your shed for someone else to use.

A healthy lawn doesn’t need a ton of water 🌱💧
Did you know that established lawns in our region rarely need more than 30 minutes of watering twice a week?
✔ Set a timer.
✔ Water only when needed.
✔ Water between 10:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to reduce evaporation.
✔ Always obey City water restrictions.
A perfectly green lawn isn’t necessary to have a FireSmart property.
The area within 1.5 metres (5 feet) of your home is your home’s Immediate Zone—the most important place to reduce wildfire risk.
If you have grass in this area, keep it:
• Green and well-watered when possible
• Trimmed to ~3 inches
• Pulled back from structures where appropriate
Areas allowed to go golden will usually come back in the fall or spring
This simple balance helps conserve water while still keeping your home better protected during wildfire season.

We Don't Waste Good Food
Do you want to be part of our latest collaboration with Central Cariboo Community Food Hub in an effort to reduce edible food waste and increase organic waste solutions!?!?
Emma and I have been hitting the streets of downtown WL gathering info from businesses and restaurant owners to see what people are doing with their leftovers.
A business doing ALL they will get a 'we don't waste good food' sticker for their efforts.
If more needs to be done we will help connect solutions for them to keep all organics out of the landfill to create food and soil for OUR LOCAL community!
