Williams Lake Weekly Report August 11 to August 17, 2025

Williams Lake RCMP responded to 208 calls for service from August 11 to August 17, 2025.

Here are a few highlights of the week:

August 11, 2025
• Police attended a local business where a male was found to be causing a disturbance. The male was held in custody until he was safe to care for himself.
•Police stopped a male driver of a vehicle and found the driver to be affected by drugs and prohibited from driving. A 24 hour driving prohibition and appearance notice was issued.

August 13, 2025
•Police responded to three calls for mental health related concerns. Two individuals were apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
•One male was arrested and lodged into cells after they stole from a local business, the stolen product was returned and the male released from police custody once safe to care for himself.
•Police proactively issued two 90 day driving prohibitions for impaired driving and one 24 hour driving prohibition for impaired driving.

August 14, 2025
•Three grass fires were reported to police near a local business. Williams Lake Fire Department extinguished the fires without incident and police responded to investigate. This matter is still under investigation but not deemed suspicious.
•Police officers attended one call for mental health related concerns. The individual was apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
•Police responded to a fight in progress, where one male was arrested. The male was grossly intoxicated and brought to hospital where they were apprehended under the mental health act.

August 15, 2025
•Police officers completed foot patrols in Boitanio park which resulted in numerous alcoholic beverages being poured out.

August 16, 2025
•A local business was broken into where numerous sets of keys and two vehicles were stolen. One vehicle was recovered, and one is still outstanding. Forensic services attended the business and the site of the recovered vehicle to complete a thorough investigation. This matter is still under investigation.
•Police attended a report of a suspicious circumstance where youth were observed with a firearm. Police located the youth and determined the firearm to be a pellet gun and no further offences have been committed.
•An impaired driver was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and their vehicle impounded for 30 days after failing a breath test using an approved screening device.
•One individual was brought to hospital after being apprehended under the mental health act.

August 17, 2025
•Williams Lake police officers completed proactive foot patrols in the downtown area and Boitanio park resulting in added police presence and community interaction.
•Members attended to a report of a dispute on ownership of a trailer. Queries completed on trailer information confirmed and all parties went their separate ways.
•A suspicious vehicle was reported as broken down on Little Lake Rd. members attended and located a male sleeping inside who had unendorsed warrants for his arrest. The individual was not cooperative but was arrested and brought to cells to be held for court.

Williams Lake Weekly Report June 12-19, 2025

Williams Lake RCMP responded to 297 calls for service from June 12-19, 2025. Frontline officers responded to several calls from wellbeing checks to assaults and made numerous arrests during proactive patrols. Here are a few of the highlights:
June 12, 2025
• Frontline officers arrested a man for breaching his conditions. The man was arrested and held for court with new charges.
• Officers received a report of an intoxicated man allegedly stealing items from a local grocery store. The man was arrested and held until sober.
• Frontline officers assisted BC Emergency Health Services with getting an elderly person medical assistance.
• Officers attended a disturbance and located heavily intoxicated woman who attempted to flee from officers. The woman was taken into custody.
June 13, 2025
• A frontline officer located another man failing to comply with his conditions. He was arrested.
• An officer observed a motorcycle travelling well over the posted speed limit. The motorcycle was going 127km/hr in a posted 60km/hr zone. The bike was impounded and the driver was issued a violation ticket.
• Williams Lake RCMP received a report of a man staggering into the traffic in the middle of the night. The man was found to be intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested and lodged in cells.
• A man with an outstanding warrant was located by an officer on patrol. The man was arrested and held for court.
• On a proactive patrol, an officer located and recovered suspected stolen property from an individual. The investigation is ongoing.
• Officers were conducting a proactive patrol and located man who had been wanted since October 2024. The man was arrested and held for court.
June 14, 2025
• Officers were called to a single vehicle rollover on Highway 20. The driver was transported to hospital. Investigation has led officers to believe the crash was related to speed and alcohol.
• Police observed a vehicle being driven poorly. The vehicle backed into another parked car. A traffic stop was conducted and officers found the driver to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound.
June 16, 2025
• A person was threatening people with a weapon outside a business on the 300 block of Proctor Street. Officers located the suspect and arrested them. The person was released with a future court date and conditions.
• Police were called about a man yelling about his cats being mistreated. Police and determined his cats were safe but he was not due to his angry demeanor. The man was arrested and lodged in cells.
• Officers were called to assist with an intoxicated person knocking on the wrong house door. The person was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.
June 17, 2025
• An officer was actively engaged in community safety efforts and located a man breaching his conditions. The man was failing to comply with his condition to not in the community of Williams Lake. The officer went to arrested the man who attempted to flee but was swiftly taking into custody by the officer. The man was held in custody for court.
• Officers located a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop. The officers determined the driver was impaired. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound.
June 18, 2025
• Police were called to a report of vandalism at a local park. The suspects were arrested and identified as youth. Police utilized alternative measures and had the youth fix their mistake with the support of their guardians.
• An officer was conducting traffic safety enforcement and located a speeding vehicle. The vehicle was stopped and the officer determined the driver to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition and 30-day vehicle impound.
• Later that evening another officer located another impaired driver and removed them and their vehicle off the road for 24 hours.
June 19, 2025
• Officers responded to the report of a shoplifter at a local business.
• Officers were called to the Stampede Grounds were and unwanted person was spraying staff with a hose.

What started as a routine shift ended in the seizure of drugs, cash, weapons, and illicit ci******es—in our community.

On June 12, the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit, with support from Williams Lake RCMP, arrested a man suspected of drug trafficking.

A search of his residence revealed even more illegal items.

“This is part of our ongoing effort to disrupt criminal networks in Williams Lake,” said Inspector Rob Lake.

Williams Lake Weekly Report June 7 – 11

Williams Lake RCMP responded to 160 calls for service from June 7 to June 11. Frontline officers responded to numerous calls from wellbeing checks to assaults and made numerous arrests during proactive patrols. Here are a few of the highlights:
June 7, 2025
• An astute officer observed a 26-year-old male breaching his conditions at a local business. The male was arrested and held in custody for court.
• During a proactive patrol on Mackenzie Ave. a male was observed operating a stolen motorcycle. The male was arrested and the motorcycle was returned to the owner.
• Frontline members responded to an abandoned building in flames by the Hamilton Hotel. Initial investigation completed and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
• While on a proactive patrol on Mackenzie Ave. a traffic stop was completed which resulted in the impaired driver receiving a 90 day driving prohibition and their vehicle impounded for 30 days.
• A traffic stop was conducted near Broadway Ave S. which resulted in the impaired driver receiving a 3-day roadside prohibition from driving. The vehicle was also towed.
June 8, 2025
• During a traffic stop a driver was arrested for driving while prohibited after previously receiving a 90 day driving prohibition from impaired driving. The vehicle was impounded, a violation ticket given, and a court date for prohibited driving.
• A 26-year-old male was observed breaching his conditions at a local business. The male was arrested and held in custody for court.
June 9, 2025
• While on a proactive patrol, a Williams Lake officer located a male who had a warrant. The male was arrested without issue and release with a court date.
• While on a proactive patrol, another Williams Lake officer located a male who had a warrant. The male was arrested and held in custody for court.
• Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit and Williams Lake general duty members worked in tandem to arrest two separate males at two separate instances for possession of drugs in a public area.
• Officers also responded to a crashed vehicle ay Yorston St. and 7th Ave N. which led to an arrest and drug impaired driving investigation.
• An unidentified suspect(s) set a fire near a business at Mackenzie Ave. and Yorston St. This investigation is still ongoing.

June 10, 2025
• A male was arrested for causing a disturbance near 2nd Ave. and Cameron St. The male was held in custody until sober enough to care for himself.
• Another male was arrested for causing a disturbance near the Williams Lake Stampede grounds. The male was held in custody until sober enough to care for himself.
• Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit arrested a 47-year-old male for drug trafficking. The
• During a proactive traffic patrol, a vehicle was pulled over and a male located inside the vehicle with drugs. The male was arrested and searched. The male was later released.
• During another proactive traffic patrol, another vehicle was pulled over and the driver was deemed to be impaired and given a 24-hour driving prohibition as well as a 6-month driving prohibition that was required to be served.

June 11
• Single motor vehicle crash on Dog Creek Rd where a car swerved to avoid a deer and then went off the road. No injuries sustained and no criminal involvement.
• Vehicle fire on Mackenzie Ave N that was engulfed in flames. Members attended but patrols negative for anyone in the area. Fire Department attended and extinguished fire.
• Officers were on a proactive patrol locating a wanted person. The person was arrested and released with a new court date.

Williams Lake Weekly Report June 1-6, 2025

Williams Lake RCMP responded to 175 calls for service from June 1-6, 2025. Frontline officers responded to numerous calls from wellbeing checks to assaults and made numerous arrests during proactive patrols. Here are a few of the highlights:

June 1, 2025

• Frontline officers were conducting proactive patrols along Proctor Street in Williams Lake and observed a man who had an outstanding unendorsed warrant. Officers arrested the man without incident and he was held for court.
June 2, 2025

• A keen-eyed patrol officer was conducting patrols in Boitanio Park and located a man allegedly breaching his court ordered conditions. The man was taken into custody without incident. Curtis Paul is now accused of one count of breach of release and was held in custody.
June 3, 2025

• A frontline officer located another man failing to comply with his conditions. He was arrested at a local shop. The man was found to be in possession of a weapon and drugs that were alleged breaches to his conditions. The man was held in custody.
• Officers conducted a proactive traffic stop on Oliver Street. The officers arrested the occupants for an Excise Act offence and located a small amount of drugs, as well as illegal to***co products.
• Officers on night shift located and removed two vehicles off the road during traffic stops. Both were separate incidences of impaired driving. Each driver received 90 day driving prohibitions and had their vehicles impounded for 30 days.

June 4, 2025
• A frontline officer located two different people on outstanding warrants as he patrolled town overnight. A woman with an outstanding warrant was arrested and released and a man was arrested and held for court on outstanding charges.
• An officer was conducting proactive traffic enforcement and stopped a vehicle speeding on Windmill Crescent. The driver was found to be impaired and received a 90 day driving prohibition and 30 day vehicle impound.
• During a traffic stop, members of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit seizure bear spray from a vehicle occupied by a known prolific offender in Williams Lake.
• Officers of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit conducted a stop of a vehicle suspected to be engaged in drug trafficking. Co***ne was seized from the occupant.

June 5, 2025
• Police responded to a break and enter at a local business. Officers conducted an extensive investigation and identified the suspect. The suspect was later located and arrested during an early morning patrol.
• Williams Lake RCMP attended a report of a theft at a local business. Officers located the suspect who had fled and arrested him. The suspect was released on strict conditions and provided a court date.
• Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit and Williams Lake Detachment conducted surveillance on a high drug trafficking location. A Local known drug trafficker was stopped after observations were made that he was conducting drug transactions. A small amount of prescription drugs was seized.
• Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit along with Williams Lake GIS conducted a traffic stop and arrested two occupants of a vehicle observed in a high drug use area. The occupants were arrested. Officers located a small amount of Crack Co***ne and a prohibited weapon, both were seized.
• Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle that was driving erratically in Williams Lake. The driver had been observed in a high drug trafficking area earlier. The driver was detained for impaired driving by drug. A drug recognition officer conducted a field test and the driver was deemed to be impaired by drug.
• During a traffic stop Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit members located illicit ci******es and the driver was arrested. The vehicle was searched and additional illicit ci******es were located and seized.
• Officers of Williams Lake GIS and Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit observed a man smoked Methamphetamine at a bus stop in front of the Boys and Girls Club in Williams Lake. The man was arrested and a small amount of Methamphetamine was located and seized. The man reported that he was unhoused and in desperate need of services. Officers offered assist the man in seeking out support but he declined.

June 6, 2025
• Police were called to the 1100 block of Mackenzie Ave N. A report was received that a man was waving a knife around. Officers flooded the area and located a man matching the suspect description walking with a screwdriver in his hand. The man was cooperative with officers and apologetic for the call. No criminal offence had taken place.
• Officers were called out to an unwanted person at a school. The man reported that he was just lying there to “thaw out”. The man was advised that he could not be at the school as it is a closed campus. The man was cooperative and left on foot to “thaw out”.

A good time for all last night at WL’s Guns & Hoses game! The Williams Lake Fire Department won the Dale Moon memorial cup, downing the RCMP 10-8. Attendance was 612 and Kidsport was the beneficiary! Thanks to all for coming! Dale.
