🌟 A Huge Thank You to Astronomy in Action! 🌟

This was the second time we have welcomed Astronomy in Action to our community, and once again, it was an incredible experience for our students and residents.

As a small rural community located approximately five hours from Toronto and the nearest planetarium, opportunities like this are often out of reach due to the costs of travel, accommodations, meals, and admission fees. Bringing this unique, hands-on astronomy experience directly to our community made science accessible, engaging, and inspiring for local families.

At our library, our goal is to make as many inaccessible experiences and materials as possible accessible, and this program hit that mark beautifully. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with participants praising both the educational value and the unforgettable experience.

A huge shout-out and heartfelt thank you to Astronomy in Action for making this opportunity possible and for helping bring the wonders of the universe to our community. βπŸ”

If you're looking for unique, engaging, and educational programming for your school, library, or community organization, we highly recommend contacting Astronomy in Action and joining one of their tours. You won't be disappointed!

THE TURTLES ARE NESTING

Hello from Kelly at Think Turtle Conservation Initiative

Babies on board!

June represents the peak of nesting season. Expect to see a noticeable increase in turtle activity across the province. Roads near wetlands, lakes, rivers, marshes, and other waterways will see more turtles on the move, particularly females carrying eggs. The first nesting females are already traveling, with activity increasing significantly throughout June and continuing into July.

How You Can Help
https://thinkturtleconservationinitiative.wordpress.com/2026/06/06/the-turtles-are-nesting/

Please remind all the drivers in your household and visitors to slow down, stay alert, and help protect one of Ontario's most vulnerable and iconic wildlife groups.

Consider sharing this information to help spread awareness. Every turtle that safely crosses a road matters. Thank you.

With great appreciation,
Kelly Wallace
