Sure, a sunny fall day is nice, but have you ever played shinny with your neighbours?

Parks maintains and floods 30 outdoor rinks in Whitehorse, working closely with neighbourhood representatives. Our rinks range in size โ€“ some have snowbank sides and other have full board systems and night lighting.

Every fall, neighbourhood reps submit applications to have their local rink activated for the upcoming winter.

Head to whitehorse.ca/rinks to get your rink on the flooding schedule.

Want to be a beloved volunteer and get involved with your local rink? Neighbourhood reps are always looking for volunteers to help clear the snow to get the rinks ready for flooding. Contact our Parks team at [email protected] and they can direct you to your neighbourhood rep.

We've been made aware of a parking ticket payment scam that may be affecting Whitehorse residents.

Some residents have reported receiving emails from "Parking Enforcement" directing them to scan a QR code to pay a parking ticket. These QR codes lead to fraudulent websites that are not affiliated with the City of Whitehorse.

The City of Whitehorse will never ask you to make a parking ticket payment by scanning a QR code.

The City will only contact you about a parking ticket in the following ways:

โ€ข A paper parking ticket placed on your vehicle's windshield
โ€ข A letter mailed to your registered address if you received an automatic conviction from court
โ€ข An email receipt after you pay a ticket online and provide a valid email address

If you're unsure whether a parking ticket or payment request is legitimate, please contact Bylaw Services at [email protected] before making a payment.

09/09/2026

As part of the Cityโ€™s pre-winter maintenance, crews will be cleaning up grave sites at the Grey Mountain Cemetery starting on Wednesday, September 23.

We know how much these small tributes and adornments mean. Over time, items left at grave sites can weather, break down, or shift, which can create safety hazards for visitors and for the staff who maintain these grounds. This seasonal maintenance helps us keep the cemetery peaceful and safe for the whole community.

We kindly ask visitors to remove any personal items they wish to keep by Tuesday, September 22. Artificial or dried flowers that have faded with time will be cleared away as part of this process.

The clean-up is expected to be complete by Wednesday, September 30. Please do not add any adornments during the clean-up period.

Any items still in place once the clean-up begins will be carefully removed, labelled, and kept in storage for 120 days, giving families plenty of time to reclaim them.

Thank you for helping us to care for the cemetery.

To arrange a time to pick up personal belongings, please call 867-668-8325 or email [email protected].
