We're Hiring: 1:1 Support Workers for Foster Children & Youth

We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Support Workers to work with foster children and youth. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children and families in need.

Position Details:
• Hours: 10 hours per week (flexible, based on the needs of the child/youth and their foster family)
• Location: Whitby (Durham Region, Ontario)

Qualifications:
• Relevant education in fields such as Social Service Worker (SSW), Early Childhood Education (ECE), Educational Assistant (EA), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), or related
• Experience working with children and youth
• Current First Aid & CPR certification
• Child welfare check and broad police check
• Valid driver’s license and at least $1 million liability insurance

What You’ll Do:
• Provide 1:1 support for foster children and youth, assisting with their daily activities and helping them reach their goals
• Collaborate with foster families to ensure the child’s emotional, social, and physical well-being
• Be a supportive, caring role model in their lives

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, on September 30th, we pause to honor and remember the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities who continue to live with this painful legacy.

At ReachingOut Family Homes, we believe that reconciliation begins with truth. As a foster care organization, we recognize the unique experiences of Indigenous children and youth in care, and we commit to listening, learning, and walking alongside Indigenous communities in the spirit of respect and healing.

This day is not only about reflection—it is also about action. We encourage everyone to take time to learn more about the history of residential schools, to listen to Indigenous voices, and to support the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation.
