Police are searching for a male and female suspect after they stole jewellery from an older female in Whitby.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, members of Central West Division responded to a robbery call in the area of Whitefish Street and Des Newman Boulevard.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., the 63-year-old female victim was on the sidewalk outside of her residence when a grey/silver four-door SUV pulled up along side her. A male and female suspect spoke ‘broken hindi’ to call the victim over to their vehicle. The female suspect in the passenger seat grabbed the victim’s arm to place rings on her fingers, and removed a necklace the victim was wearing, while the male suspect distracted her. The suspects then threw fake jewellery at the victim before fleeing the area in their vehicle.

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

The first suspect is described as: male, approximately 40-45 years-old, with a light moustache. He spoke ‘broken hindi’

The second suspect is described as: female, approximately 40-45 years-old, with a black hijab. She spoke ‘broken hindi’

The suspect vehicle is described as a: grey/silver four-door SUV with tinted windows.

Three occupants suffered serious injuries and one occupant suffered minor injuries following a single vehicle collision in Whitby.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, at approximately 5:30 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a single vehicle collision near Myrtle Road West and Duffs Road. A Toyota RAV4 was travelling eastbound on Myrtle Road when it lost control and went off the roadway, ejecting at least two occupants from the vehicle.

An 18-year-old male and a 19-year-old male were transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries. A 16-year-old female was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries. A 14-year-old male suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local-area hospital.

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

🚨 REMINDER: DRPS' Central East Division is hosting their 2026 Oshawa Community Safety Day this weekend! 🚔

This free community event is inclusive and fun for guests of all ages. Food will be available for purchase. Parking will be free for all attendees!

There will be various activities and displays to enjoy, as well as police vehicles, and members from various units, including the K9 and tactical.

In partnership with Oshawa Fire, City of Oshawa and Region of Durham Paramedics who will also be present, as well as displays from other community safety partners.

Three males and one female are facing charges following a break-and-enter investigation in Ajax.

On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 8:55 a.m., members of the West Division Community Response Unit, with the assistance of front-line officers, were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Commercial Avenue and Hunt Street. Two persons were seen entering a secured sea can container. Officers checked the container and located four individuals inside, who were all taken into custody without incident.

A search of the four suspects located break-in tools, cash, weapons, ammunition, and drugs, including: fentanyl, M**A, and co***ne.

A 41-year-old male from Pickering is charged with: Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (fentanyl), Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (co***ne), Possess Weapon Dangerous, Break-and-Enter, Possess Break-in Instruments, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

At the time of his arrest, the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.

A 47-year-old male of No Fixed Address is charged with: Break-and-Enter, Possess Break-in Instruments, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (M**A), and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

At the time of his arrest, the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.

A 30-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Break-and-Enter, and Possess Break-in Instruments.

A 38-year-old female of No Fixed Address is charged with: Break-and-Enter, Possess Break-in Instruments.

All four were held for a bail hearing.

More than 750 students from across Durham Region are ready to walk across the stage in style after attending DRPS’ Suits for Youth and Gowns for Grads events last month. 💙

With the help of 80 volunteers and DRPS officers, students received support in selecting outfits and accessories, leaving them feeling prepared and proud to be attending their upcoming graduations. 🎓

Police are searching for a female following a counterfeit currency fraud in Ajax.

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a female entered the HomeSense located at 125 Harwood Avenue North in Ajax, and purchased items using fraudulent currency. A short time later the female suspect attended the HomeSense located at 1355 Kingston Road in Pickering, where she returned the fraudulently purchased items for legitimate currency.

The suspect is described as: female, approximately 5’2” tall, with black hair. She was wearing all black clothing.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a vehicle believed to be related to an arson in Oshawa.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at approximately 1:40 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to a residential fire in the area of Simcoe Street South and Olive Avenue in Oshawa. Multiple commercial units were engulfed in flames.

No parties suffered any major injuries.

A white, four door, vehicle with tinted windows and a black front end has been identified as a vehicle of interest.

Police are looking for two suspects after an elderly female was robbed in Ajax.

On Sunday, May 17, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to a robbery call outside of a residence in the area of Old Harwood Avenue and Bray Drive. A 76-year-old female was outside of her home gardening when a vehicle being driven by a male suspect stopped in front of her residence. A female suspect exited the vehicle and assaulted the victim, stealing several gold bracelets and a necklace she was wearing, before throwing fake jewellery at the victim and fleeing the area.

The victim suffered minor injuries.
