Bears are entering hyperphagia, their annual pre-winter feeding period.

That means they're spending up to 20 hours per day searching for every possible calorie they can find.

During this time, bears are more likely to enter neighbourhoods and recreation areas looking for easy meals.

You can help keep bears wild by:
βœ… Securing garbage and other attractants
βœ… Never leaving food or coolers unattended
βœ… Keeping dogs on leash

Every food reward teaches a bear that human spaces can provide an easy meal. Together, we can help keep Whistler safe for both people and wildlife.

Where do municipal tax dollars go? That's the question we heard most often in this year's β€œYour 2027 Budget Insights” survey results.

Residents told us they want to understand better:
βœ… how tax dollars are prioritized across departments;
βœ… where municipal revenue comes from;
βœ… how Council makes budget decisions; and
βœ… when and how they can provide input.

As departments begin drafting their 2027 budgets, we're using these insights to help inform budget discussions and to improve how we communicate about municipal finances.

This fall, we'll be sharing more information about Whistler's budget and creating opportunities for you to help shape priorities for 2027.

Learn what we heard and stay tuned for ways to get involved ➑️ https://engage.whistler.ca/2027-budget
